Bypassing the Harding formula to get next card
To ltrblst and hcs: Thanks for pointing out how to bypass the formula and quickly determine the next card in the standard Harding stack by adding three to the current card and advancing one suit using CHaSeD and thanks for mentioning there are some exceptions. I did an analysis and found 25 exceptions, but some of those exceptions have nice rules. In the original CHaSeD based Harding stack most of the time (27 times out of 52) you can quickly know what the next card is by subtracting 3 from the value of the actual current card and advancing one on the CHaSeD suit sequence with certain exceptions, those next card rule breakers being If the current card is: The Six or Seven of clubs: 1. The 6C advances to the 7C. 2. The 7C advances to the 9S. The Queen of Hearts: 1. The QH advances to the 10C. All aces, twos, threes (regardless of suit): 1. Aces subtract 3 and stay on same suit. 2. Deuces subtract 3 and stay on same suit. 3. The threes subtract 3 and stay on same suit. IE: Aces go to Jacks of same suit Deuces go to Queens of same suit. The threes go to Kings of same suit. Diamonds have their own separate rules for the next card which are If the current card is: 1. The Ace, 2 or 3: subtract 3 and stay on diamonds. 2. The 4D and 5D: add 4 and advance to clubs. 3. The 6D thru JD: subtract 5 and advance to clubs. 4. The QD & KD: add 4 and advance to hearts. The Diamonds alone makeup 13 rule breakers but three of those were already stated as part of the Ace, deuce and 3 rule breakers giving 10 rule breakers for diamonds. We have 12 rule breakers for the aces, deuces, threes. Then we have three rule breakers for the 6C, 7C, and QH. When we add the rule breakers up we have 10 + 12 + 3 = 25 rule breakers. However the aces, deuces, threes are so easy that I think we can not think of them as rule breakers therefore when we subtract those 12 we will have 13 true rule breakers. If we think of the six of diamonds through the jack of diamonds as being easy by subtracting 5 and advancing to clubs then that's another six rule breakers that we can discount which will bring the more troublesome rule breakers down to seven. I think I covered all the rule breakers. Let me know if I missed any. Thanks. |

The 4D and 5D are pretty easy too so if we subtract them from our total rule breakers that brings us down to five really troublesome rule breakers.
