Hi,
What are some of the questions you ask when taking a booking? Is this a surprise for the birthday boy/girl? Have any of the kids seen me before? Bob x303 |

A lot of questions can concern the parent but I try to ask each question in a way that lets them know that I am trying to help them make their party a success.
Some of the obvious: Child's name Child's age Parent's name Date of party Time of party TIME OF PERFORMANCE (make sure they don't confused with time of party) How MANY kids in attendance? Phone (cell & home) Address Directions Some other questions that can help you & them: Type of show (themes, lengths, group-age, etc.) Deposit info Performance area (exact description) Where will the kids be BEFORE the show (set-up time info) Where will the kids go AFTER the show (where can you lead or dismiss them to) Are there any stairs? Also you should have them know some of your expectations without being over-bearing, like: Having at least 2 adults in the room (or more) Your rules on cameras, camcorders Some things others have mentioned on this board like: No smoking Turning the air cooler Plus payment expectations Your 2 questions were excellent as well: Have these kids seen me before & when was it Is this a surprise for the Bday kid (do you have to sneak in?) Sometimes I'll ask what the kid is "in to", if you can work it into the show it will impress the kid & the parents. Also ask if they would like Balloon Animals!
Aim high and you won't get your shoes wet.

There are certain things you need to know, before you take a booking, First questions are
date/time required venue, or if they havn't sorted a venuew, the rough area. type of event what entertainment they are looking for birthday kids age ages/ numbers of children attending While I ask these questions I'm looking through the diary, I can then work out, 1, whether I want the job, 2, whether it's worth getting them to move to another day. (I don't do long distance work on a weekend) If I want the job, I then go into the full sales pitch and give them a description of the show/party package I can do for them and give them a quote. If they only ask about an hours birthday magic show, they still get the full 2-hour package sales pitch. A lot of bookers don't realise they can book 2-hour packages untill I tell them and they then want the full monty. If I don't want the job, I just say I'm fully booked for that date, and any others they ask about either side of the original date. You never say you don't want it. The only reason you can never do a booking is your fully booked, there is no other reason for turning away work. this tells the booker you must be good as your always busy. They tell there friends we tried to get so & so, he must be good he's always fully booked, When taking the actual booking I just ask for Address and contact numbers of booker, (inc mobile No, remember if the party is in a venue away from their home, you need a number to contact them on if you have difficulties getting to the venue on the day) Birthday childs name how they found me. I then go into my after sales routine of explaining exactly what I'm sending them, what to do with it, ie sign and return the contract with the deposit, what time I'll be arriving etc, where I like to set up and a couple of other bits of useful advice, designed to make my job easier on the day, and maximise the fun for the kids. I finish with a nice thank you for booking me.
Yours Funfully
