Reading the back and forth among some folks, especially in the Tricky Business room, got me thinking back to various folks here in the Café that I've had love/hate relationships with.
As I'm in street performing/busking some of my first spirited encounters were with Chance in the Side Walk Shuffle Room. He was a big proponent of 1st Amendment rights that he felt gave street performers the ability to set up anywhere and not be hassled by law enforcement. While I largely agreed with him, I would also push back that if you're blocking right of way, or hindering a business, you're going to be asked to move, and that might not be a bad thing. This led to some heated discussions. And, as I was still new to Café (and the internet) I'd push back. Most was good natured, but once in a while Chance got a bit fiesty and would get a week of two in Café Jail. Or, as rumored, sometimes real jail as he supposedly became a guest of some county for not following lawful orders or disturbing the peace. He's long since slipped away from view as his last post was in 2012. General Magician was another. He was a restaurant magician from down south. Overall a nice enough guy, but unfortunately had some anger management issues. He was former enlisted guardsman who stated that enlisted men were cannon fodder and often stated some wierd ideas. Like when driving on a military base and they play taps/retire the colors that you should stop your car, open the door, get out and stand at attention (Every evening militatry bases retire the colors, taking down the flag while playing music. It's military custom to stand at attention and salute towards the flag/music, but only if you're walking). I posted articles and regulations showing him that if you're driving you pull over and stay seated, silently, in your car. This set him off and he was banned for awhile. When he came back he seemed constantly agitated. It culuminated when he got into with Bob Cassidy and basically said he wished Bob, and all Vietnam Vets, would die. He's been banned since...that was aslo mid-2010's Since all that I tend not to engage on any serious level with folks, here or elsewhere on the internet. I've learned I'm not going to change their mind and so am not going to waste the time nor energy trying to do so. I enjoy the occasional spirited discussion, and, I'll admit, will make the occasional snarky comments, but for most part I'm gleaning through the Café for ideas, lessons learned, and, unfortunately for my wallet, DVDs and Tricks to buy. Well, coffee cup is empty and work is calling. Just wanted to muse a bit here this morning....

I still recall the day I met Beaker from the Muppets. He said to me "Meep, meep, mee mee mee Meep!", and that has made all the difference.

Several years ago I wrote a "bozo filter" batch program for Firefox -- which was a great browser back in the day.
At the time my use of the magic Café peaked, I must have had about 20 or maybe 25 screen names on that list. Since then, I've migrated to chrome, and my engagement with the magic Café has dropped off precipitously, so I really haven't run into most of those jerks anyhow, despite not updating that program to Google chrome format (I really don't know how to do that, anyway LOL) It seems like the majority of them are simply gone. Vanished like ghosts at dawn... A few seem to have mellowed, which is nice. One or two have dropped dead... They say living well is the best revenge.

I have had my share.
But all's well that ends well, I guess.

Man I'm embarrassed myself at some of the stuff I said and thought when I first came on here </laugh>
In that time I've gotten 2 college degrees and been a counselor for almost 7 years. Learned a lot about people and how to calm tf down. Got a good family and raised some decent kids. Life is good. They really need to bring back the guest of honor though. Pigcake would be a good one.

Man, how could anyone dislike Bob Cassidy?

r Unfortunately, I think they would have trouble getting guests. If I remember correctly Doc Eason got so tired of the guff he got here he won't come back.

I could see that.
Still it's the feature I miss the most aside from the excellent people who are no longer with us.

Honestly coming back after long absences it's a bit heartbreaking how many of my old friends and heroes are gone. This has been a brutal decade for magic in terms of the loss of incredible talents.

I'm still trying to find out what happened to my buddy Sixten? I even sent him a private message and it went unanswered and I am really concerned about him.

I will do a search for an effect and long gone remembered faces and names pop up and I wonder what happened to them or (hopefully, good) is happening with them.
Akirafist had a magic review channel on YT (Now deleted) and also posted over at the ol' Penguin forums. He was known for giving tricks that he REALLY liked a label of "HOT SAUCE". If he didn't like a product he would literally put it in a bread toaster and burn it. Below is one of his reviews of, Pointless. Penguin, I guess was able to obtain the review and posted under their name but Akirafist was never a Penguin ambassador. -At least as far as he let us know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfjbdpHIhdA
How many magicians does it take to change a lightbulb? Regardless, for magicians darkness is a time for d'lite.

IIRC, I remember a wallet review Akirafist did...I think he was going over a number of different wallets. I enjoyed listening to him talk about them.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".
