Currently, I do not use playing cards. ESP occasionally, tarot might be a possibility, but do not use them.
Could use Post Cards, but do not. Dick

I'm no expert or 'pro' but, yes, I DO use cards, but carefully!! I'm also a 'tongue-in-cheek style of performer but don't 'overdo' it. Perm any of the following interspersed into any eventuality. No big deal: Freewill Eight Card Brainwave Trilogy (Caswell) Chronologue Pre-Prefiguration Untouched (oh Yes!!) Mix'n'Match Out of This world Impromptu card at Any Number Tossed Out Komedy Killer (Archer) Cards, I'm sure, have a place in mentalism - but I can equally understand why a 'serious' performer would, categorically, say, "No!" |

Selecting a card is a great way to make a truly random choice, or to use a f**ce, depending on whether you are the layperson or the magician. Think-of-a-card routines are fun for us because they seem harder to pull off, but most lay people will make no distinction between thinking of a card vs. picking one out. I have done mind-reading with cards via classic f**ce for years and pull-off reactions that you would think would be reserved only for a thought-card routine. But... this is because we sometimes forget to think like a lay person.
So, that should answer the question. It's a "yes" for me as well. Cards can be done very classy. Out of This World and its various incarnations is one of the most beautiful effects ever created. To this day, I am upset that I read the thing before I got to see it performed. I would have loved to know the feeling that one gives people.
