I have gotten many different ideas over they years for making fire eating torches. I've always use coat hangers, old t-shirts and white glue. I recently decided that I wanted to make a nice set of torches. I was wondering what other people use. Someone recommended using threaded rods that have been cut in half. I got one, but thought it might be too heavy to hold between my teeth. Someone else suggested using the BarBQ Skewars with the wooden handles. I can't seem to find any. In Jeff Hobson's video, I noticed he used radio antenas. What do you guys suggest? Also, which is better, cotton or kevlar. Do you glue your wicks on, or is there a better way?

I make my own using threaded rods (about 5mm ish) with 100% cotton rope lashed on the end. I have also used aluminum rod twice the diameter as handles. If I had a picture I would attach it but I don't so just picture it. they are in imitation of penn jilettes used on the UK penn and teller show, when he and a woman fire eat on a sofa. they look classy and handle very lightly. Teething is not a problem. If you can check out Fire Eating A manual of Instruction avaiable in the UK from Davenports of London(they are online). Best of luck!
