I recently bought a 'mint' P&A silk fountain from Ron Allesi. What a great price for this beautiful stack of silks.
I have always used P&A silks but for some reason, the colors of the silks in this fountain seem more vivid than the other P&A silks that I have, and I don't know why. Also, what is the best method of loading a six foot silk in this fountain? I tried pinning one corner of the six footer in, and that worked OK. Perhaps using a button would be better. Paul |

I have a silk fountain from P&A. I load a six foot butterfly silk in the well (does yours have a well?)
I fold the silk several times lengthwise until it is about three inches wide. Then I accordion fold the silk and place it in the well, being careful to have the top two corners of the silk just poking out of the well for easy grabbing. Hope this helps. |

Ah, forgot to mention that I paid only $50 for the fountain, which is why I consider it a steal!
My fountain is a P&A 'standard' fountain, which means there is no well to attach a load--that's why I resorted to pinning one of the edges of the six footer into where the well would normally be found. Also, the velcro straps need to be lengthened in order to hold a six foot load. When you fold the load lenghtwise should it be accordion folded as well? I wonder if I should attach a well or simply fold the six footer and attach the top corner to the inside of the fountain--that way I'd only need my left hand to grab the opposite top corner of the load in order to display it (the other side of the load would be connected to the fountain, held with my right hand). |

I would simply put a loose basting stitch to hold the six foot silk centered on the other silks. Then trap fold it in until it is small and fold the other silks over and around it.
Yes, $50 was a very good price. You do not need a well in this method at all.
