The Phoenix, which I have been thoroughly enjoying lately, reported in one of its early issues that Eddie and Lucille Roberts (a popular mental act of the day, circa 1940's) were going to the Zoo in NY to use their powers to determine "whether animals have thoughts." They were to be accompanied by "professors of education." With the current bizarro show on the Animal Channel, "Pet Psychic," this old stunt could be dusted off by the publicity-seeking mentalist. Getting confirmation from the animals could be "ruff"! Sorry, I couldn't resist!
