I am planning on doing something for a Christmas Cantada(sp?) or a Christmas Show. It is a BIG thing and the biggest thing at my church. I'm not going to go on stage and do a trick but be part of the show and do something. I want to know different tricks to use?
There will be 2 parts of the show- The part of Jesus and the biblical part. Everyone will be wearing the dress like clothes that they used to wear. The second part, which would be more suitable for magic, is the Christmas as we celebrate it, with a Christmas Tree and caroling and stuff like that. Please give me any ideas you have. I don't want anything too expensive but tell me what you think. Thanks |

When I do Christmas Holiday shows I simply wear my standard tux with accessories like a Holiday vest either holiday plaid or a christmas pattern I have), maybe a lightup Christmas tree pin and a Santa Hat. The Santa Hat fits in well with the Santa Hat Tear I do but if that would clash with the religious theme perhaps sometjing more like a top har with a holiday material hat band. Maybe find out what others are planing to wear "in the as we celebrate it" segment and just adjust to that. Good luck.

If you think back to the days of Jesus and the events of the Christmas season, maybe you can insert some magic where and when wonderous events took place. I am sure many of us Christian magicians have thought about this often, but that is really how I always begin to get an idea about what tricks I might want to use and how to apply them to the story. I guess from there Jesus will just help you as you need it, as He always does. After all, we have to thank Him for all our ideas.

Off the top of my head...
Coin in Nest of Boxes. Boxes wrapped as presents. Easy to make from the various size matching gift boxes you can find at the dollar store. Patter that Jesus was God's gift to us. ABC Blocks: Laflin has a routine in Greater Gospel Magic (I have modified it to my style with healthy doses of comedy like Ginn's routine). Harlans Starcle: Patter about the star of Bethlehem that lead the wise men to the baby Jesus. Professor Nightmare: Jesus as the trinity, There are lots of other ideas on this thread that would be suitable. Cheers. |
