I'm sure we've all heard of this trick where the magicians pulls a live rabbit out of his hat. Is there any source where I can learn the patter and the mechanics behind this trick?

Just about any of the old books (Hoffmann, Robert-Houdin, etc...) discuss loading items into hats. There is a good routine with a drum in Magic and Showmanship by Henning Nelms. This is an inexpensive book I suggest to all serious magicians.

Mark Wilson used a modified square circle to produce a rabbit out of a "hat" on national television. His method is discribed in Mark Wilson's complete course of magic.

Edwin has some rabbit effects in his books.
these are mainly for children, and include:- RABBIT PIE - A pie appears in an empty box - then a live rabbit is discovered inside the pie. SURPRISE BOX - Magi opens a giat birthday card and finds a large coloured box inside. the box is opened, and out pops a live bunny. BIG FEATURE DRAWER BOX and VIS-APPEAR - A live rabbit appears inside an empty box. All the above are in Edwin's Magic Vol 2, and full constructional details are given for you to build them yourself.

I hope the rabbit isn't cooked in the pie! Matt |
