Has anyone made this prop? Or any ideas?

I'm using a DRINKING STRAW as a wand in a trick. Half way through the trick, I need to release a Dye (2 or 3 drops) into a container.

Everyone has put their finger over a straw in a drink and lift it up then let it go to have the drink pour out.

You have to be able to pull on it to load the Dye before the show and then push it to let it go during the trick.

Put anything that you think down, please.

Is the straw placed into liquid to dump the dye? If so, my first thought would be to cap the lower end of the straw, and puncture that end 1/4" or so above the cap. Load the dye into the straw, which is held vertical in a glass (or a diner-style straw dispenser?); gravity, rather than vacuum, retains the load, which is dispersed when the capped end gets dunked into the drink.

The glass is empty when the dye will be put into the glass and then the water is added to it.

Putting a cap on one end just could work.

My thought would be not to gimmick the straw, but instead to use a small squirt bulb such as from a squirting flower. This is small and can easily be palmed, fed to the end of the straw, and produce the dye from seemingly nowhere. I use one of these when I run a razor blade along my arm. (This really freaks people out).
