Any comments? Looks like a nice silk effect.

I have been interested in this as well. However, I would like to hear from someone who has a fountain of silks with 18" or preferably 24" silks (since that is the size of the diamond silks used) to see what the difference is in terms of the fullness and the way the silks "blossom" out. I tried this with several 18" diamond silks and it didn't look half-bad. But my sert with ten 15" silks appears fuller. But the handling does seem very cool.

I use a Silk fountain that was hand crafted by Troy Milligan in the 80's. It contains a Dove load and a 6 foot silk production at the end that vanishes the fountain it's self. I have not personally used the JSB version but I have seen it and handled the silks which are quite nice. It is worth the price if you are looking to do this type of effect but I may suggest looking at a few others before flopping down the cash.

I watched jsb lecture and it was a great lecture with lots of visual stuff.

I spent more on that lecture than ever before. I also have used less from that lecture than ever before.

The fountain is one of the items I almost bought but it was just too much money for me at the time.

I don't remember the exact method but the basic method I do remember.

I really don't like his DVDs at all. All to music and silent. Even the explainations. I understand why but I really don't like that method of doing a DVD in the least.

My favorite way to produce the 18' silk fountain I use
is with two nesting open end cylinders. I used those
cylindrical "shaker boxes" you find in craft stores,
took the bottoms out, painted them to look "magical".

I'm sure this setup can be purchased in magic stores,
but I'm not sure what it's called. I got this idea from
a long-ago feature on ALLMAGIC.COM. Unfortunately,
I didn't save it.

You can make the same setup using nesting tin cans, etc., of
the proper size.

This will hold quite a load, including the fountain.

Can be used for other loads, too.

Cheaptrick:

Yes there are other ways of producing the fountain. However if you want to perform it with empty hands and without doing any other steals then you will need to use the JSB method.

But yes, there are many other ways which you can alter for your own act.

thanks

I've also seen this performed by Jay Scott Berry in his lecture. He even produced a small bottle of wine after the effect. It is a pretty good one. Like Frank, I almost bought the trick but I passed on it considering I've spent too much already. I'm still planning to get one in the near future.

I have purchased this effect and use it in my opening silk routine and it’s really a highlight of that part of the program. This is very visual and seen well in small to medium venues. The bare hands aspect moments before one starts producing silk after silk is very effective.
Frank, as to his DVDs, these are produced for distribution beyond the USA, and so their highly visual presentation is based, I understand, on the fact that non-English speakers are viewing these.

Yes, I know why he does it this way but for some reason I just can't stand it.
They are good. I just don't like that style. Maybe it's the music.
