Can anyone suggest a way to add excitemnt to a simple handcuff escape? I am speaking of a small intimate audience, in a small venue. Think between 50 and 100 people. No room or money for fancy equipment.
Any ideas?

Cliffg37,
I just posted an offer of help on your cuff question, but they said I used the wrong password and deleted it!!! Once again I offer my help, but as I don't know your knowledge or experience the HOW is a tough question! I live in Canoga Park, in the San Fernando Valley! Not That far from Long Beach, so e-mail me at MrESCAPE@juno.com,If you would like my help..... one on one!!! Steve Baker,MR.ESCAPE |

If you can find an old, beat-up Grant Guillotine, you have John Novak's "Penalty for Failure" handcuff escape.

Perhaps a competition of some kind. Have someone else tied up in a rope and see who could get out the fastest.

There was an old "comedy handcuff escape" that appeared in "Encyclopedia of Escapes." I used it in my night club shows in the 1970s, and it worked well.
If you want details, PM me. Steve

Cliffg37,
Are handcuff escapes simple??? Ok maybe they are to you, but are they to members of your audience? Ros

Add a couple of blood packs under the cuffs and let them ooze a little! I've always said, Blood = Entertainment.

Emotion and Excitment can be greatly enchanced by music. But...make sure that your routine lives up to the excitment of the music that you use.

Pass out some old vegatables...tomatoes etc.
Give the audience the countdown...if your not out in time... Splat... substitutions of .357s can be made if your serious about your art... ;-) sorry cliffg37...I'll skulk away now... Doug

Okay, here you go:
Have a stooge suddenly stand up with them in his hand. "Think you can get out of these?" CHALLENGE!!! Steve

That's a good one Doc. I have used that in the past and seen it used (though without really knowing if they guy was a security guard or a stooge).
Challenges are good, and I made a lot of money at college dorm parties that way. Nothing like a moderatly drunk, moderatly evil, moderatly wealthy college student for a quick buck. (g)
