It's a very recently published book and purports to be written by a military officer who claims to have been an insider in the US military's remote viewing activities. For all I know it could be "disinformation," however. I also happen to have a number of audio things I've picked up which claim to enhance one's ability to be psychic, engage in remote viewing, etc. I'm basically a skeptic, BUT I do try to keep an open mind about these things, especially considering that I haven't researched the issue very much myself, and both the US and former USSR invested significant amounts of money into their exploration of remote viewing. On the other hand, who really cares if remote viewing is for real or not? The important thing, for us mentalists, is that it's now fairly widely known of, and many people DO think it's a legitimate technology, thus providing sundry opportunities for mentalism performers to work the concept, or at least the term "remote viewing," into their acts.

In his book "Remote Viewing Secrets", Joseph McMoneagle writes that "he learned remote viewing in the U.S. Army---he was Remote Viewer #001 in the Army's Stargate Program-and was awarded the Legion of Merit for his contribution to various intelligence operations".
The reviews and references on the back cover of this book alone will cause anyone to take notice. If you have ever studied meditation and related topics, you'll know what potential there is for "psychic entertainment" with this. Thanks for the link David Scribner! And to you MT for the post. John |

Hi John,
I have my doubts... For years, I've taught various classes in New York City - a very progressive and open-minded city, filled with people who have money - and found the people who teach remote viewing techniques don't last. People know it's retarded. BS. It's from the years of hearing about $10,000 hammers and wings that break under the weight of styrofoam. People know the government spends money on useless thrash. However, if it helps, some things that have worked - and have worked very well - are... - Body Language classes - especially as special sales training for real estate agents. - Meeting your soul-mate - if you're a good presenter, you'll get a following and find it easy to fill rooms of 100 regularly - almost all single women (hint, hint). (Gosh, I should stop now.) What might work is if someone with a special forces background teaches self-hypnosis for breakthrough goal-setting. (The government regularly includes self-hypnosis training as part of the body of training those in special operations receive.) Marc Salem, in his first run of MindGames, offered tickets at a deeply discounted rate to people at Tannen's - a place where I loitered much at the time. Thus, I saw the show many, many times. What made the unreasonably sophisticated audience gasp and fantasize like schoolgirls was not the watch routine or book test, but things like the magic square and his Q&A. I think part of it was that he had honest credentials: Ivy-educated, worked with Birdwhistell - a well-known body language researcher, and he was a product of corporate culture. He didn't try to sell us some ancient Chinese secret of mind control; instead, he said, "This is what I've learned," and showed us things that had to do with it. I'm not trying to say remote viewing absolutely, positively cannot work. What I'm saying is that it's going to take a lot of credibility to pull it off. A lot. |

While remote viewing mental effects can be great, I don't think that's exactly what Itay had in mind.
