You have those nice half crown coins there. What is the benefit?

I have only used the clad so I don't know the difference. Maybe they flash to much or something??? Hopefully with some feedback I can see what other opinins are....

Take yourself into town, London has a good selection of coin shops, and buy yourself a set of silver half dollars or British half crowns. They wont cost you that much £3or4 each, cheaper than Magic Snarehouse. Silver coins sound better, look better, and just feel better to work with. Have a look and feel of some soft coins or 'slicks' they are basicly coins with their embossing worn away and lend some interesting qualities. If you get stuck for a source pm me and I ll give you an address, regards Adam Keisner

I personally prefer silver over our crap kennedy halves. However, I'm in the States, so really you should find a magician that owns a soft set and play with them to see. Just compare or go into a coin shop and play for free.
Only your hands will be able to tell you that answer. None of us on here can tell you what you prefer. |

Anyone ever perform something quick for the storeowner when browsing in a coin shop? I haven't, but the thought has crossed my mind for the next visit I make.

Bradley, I wouldn't advise even telling them you are a magician.
I made that mistake the last time I went in. It went like this..."I'm looking for some walking liberty slicks to use for my magic." He gets this bucket full of them and procedes to hand me each one individually and asking "How about this one?" He wouldn't even let ME touch the bucket to find a matching set...this was because of his notion that I would be stealing them. Please don't even bring it up. You'll be better off as a layman. |

Blew him away!!!! BTW, if you patronize a coin store repeatedly, and explain what you need the coins for after you have established your credibility, they will cut you a lot more slack. Most coin dealers watch all their new customers like hawks.
