In his Spooky, Goofy Magic show, Rick Allen uses a mismade pumpkin set of silks. Does anyone know if these are commercially available?

Hi Bruce:
I've never heard of the mis-made pumpkin silk set, as well as Rick Allen. Is this a video...or lecture notes? Sounds quite interesting. I will keep my eyes open, though. Ron |

How was it "Mis made?" Here's an idea, which I've never tried, just thought of it: If the parts of the face were messed up, I think it would be easy to get a pumpkin silk (do they make those?) and using a black sharpie fill in the wrong shapes for the faces. Or get an orange silk and draw you own mis made pumpkin on it? Any other ideas?

Bruce,
That is something he had specially made. He explains that on the video. You can ask Rick about it on The Dean's List forum, or via PM over there. For the others who don't know about Rick's Spooky Goofy Magic Show License, here's the link: http://www.getmorebookings.com/ If you can't find the link on this site, then he has removed the offering just now. You can email him and ask him about it. But like everything, it isn't around forever. If you snooze, you lose! - Donald.

I've done a bunch of custom Halloween silks for David Seebach's Halloween shows. There are some exsample on my webpage. Mismade Skelton, Jack-o-Lantern Dye Version, Jumbo Halloween come together silks, and a special 20th century silk.
Let me know what you need and I can give you an idea on cost.

Hello, I have been using Ricks Halloween show for the past 4years? I bought it right when it came out and its a sell out every year. I actually made my own with white silks and fabric markers,if you put the silks on a piece of cardboard and tape them down it will make it a lot easier!
It gets a big reaction, I hear a lot of things like I saw another magician do a similar trick with a flag but you could tell the silks were gimmicked because they were printed, yours were hand drawn so there is no way it could have been gimmicked!

When I first came up with the idea for the Spooky goofy Show I wanted a halloween theamed effect that was not scary, I could get lots of comedy out of and packed small. I came across the idea for the mis made pumkin. I looked high and low and could not find one already made so I made my own.
I had mentioned the idea of making them to Dwayne Laflin but never went anyplace. Had I known what a great seller the SGMS was going to be I would have had them professionaly made and sold them as part of the package. You can make them up as I show on the video. I've known Richard Huges for many years. When we had our touring illusion show and circuses he would bring goodies for the crew (Thanks Richard, boy I sure do miss them delights. Any how Richard I'm sure can do a fine job of making them up for you at a fair fee. BTW, yes I've extended the deadline on the special a couple more weeks... Rick |

I have a Mis-Made Jack-O-Lantern set that also comes with a 20th Century version. I purchased it years ago from Rosemary Jepson. She also had a Mis-Made Scout and Santa set. Unfortunately since Bob Jepson's passing I don't know how to contact her. Last I know of she livedin New Jersey. Maybe other know how to get in touch.

I spent most of last week searching for a set of "Mismade Pumpkin Silks" to use in a Rick Allen routine.
First I visited the local magic shops - No Luck. Next I spent several hours searching the dealers pages on the internet - No Luck. By now it's late Friday afternoon. I do a search of the forums and find three possible contacts for a custom job. Called each, left messages and sent an email with details of what I needed. I got lucky - Richard Hughes got back to my email and in a few hours we had all the specifications worked out with a promised quick delivery of a week. Ya can't get better than that!!! |

I went with Rick Allen's idea a few years ago and I purchased an orange, a black, 3 white, and a green silk. Then I purchased one of those halloweenn pumpking cardboard things that people hang on their front doors and I traced it onto 2 of the white silks.
One of the white silks I left with just the outline and the green color for the stem (you can use brown if it suits ya) and the other one I colored in completely just like the cardboard hanging one. And viola, mismade pumpkin. There are special markers for coloring on fabric but I think I used regular crayola markers and they have held up for about 4 years now. Do it on your own, I think I used 18 inch or 24 inch silks, probably 18 because I am pretty cheap. oliver |
