I am creating a haunted trail that
utilizes both close up magic and illusions. I am looking for illusions that will play well outdoors in a trail type setting. Ideas? Thanks, Dave |

Bisection sounds good for a haunted theme. Also, some type of levitation. There is one on Touching Sky by Andrew Mayne with a broom that you could have a witch on.

A few years ago I set-up a little haunted trail stop at our state park. It was a poker game amoung several unsavory charaters. When a group came by we started to play. We were betting body parts, like I would open with a thumb(tip), next guy would raise a (rubber) hand, then one folds, and the last calls, but does not have anything to bet so he puts his hand in a chopper, so we could add some "Fresh meat" to the game. After a good laugh we would show all fingers and hands we intact. Don't do this at home kids!
Nothing would get done at all, if man waited so long that no one could find fault with it.

Hey Magic Manuel,
The idea sounds really good. Do you have any pictures? I am just curious. And no I don't intend to copy the idea |

Sure, but only a few that are not great.
It was a fishing club event that we helped to raise some money for the state park. I had a portable Succot, (twelve 2x4s with corner hardware plus tarp), ask a Jewish friend. We set it up as the last stop on the trail in the park giving us a little persimmon stage frame so people would not just see a bunch of guys sitting at a table from a distance. The first pic shows the table and chopper with a couple of the guys in masks. I was sitting in the empty chair, took the picture. You can see the TT and some rubber worms on the table. Other pics are of the club president with Osama's head on a pike. The little skeleton on the step ladder danced to "Funky Time" Check out the photos I popped up on the web at: http://home.covad.net/~jmkanter/

I personally don't like Bisection outdoors. If there is any wind and it bows the cloth towards your body....well let's just say there is no mystery as to how it's done.

No problemo. Please feel free to do this. I only post ideas I wish to share.

I practiced Bisection in my yard and had my son video tape it. Am I ever glad he did. There was a little bit of wind and it looked awful. Of course indoors I think it looks great. I've only performed it once at a show. I couldn't see the reaction of the audience but I could hear it! I've come up with a new presentation for it and am really looking forward to doing it more.
