I have a silent act ready to go, but I don't have a strong ending. Any ideas to strong closing effects?

Hard to advise you without knowing what your act is. Assuming you have a well-routined act and it's choreographed to music, the only thing I can suggest is to raise your arms and take a little bow. That's the traditional "applause" position.

Don't take this wrong, but if it is "ready to go" how can it be if you don't have a closer?
What is the routine like, effects, etc.?

OK, it's not ready to go, but I'm doing things like bottle production, crystal tube, airborne, vanishing coke can, silk productions, and ending with a zombie. It's all routined though, but I don't think my zombie is a good closer. What can I do to make it unforgettable, i.e. general grants flash vanish, etc.?

Personally I cheat a little. I close with a quick, very visual effect as an encore. (When the venue permits it, I do a snowstorm) If you treat the Zombie as your closer, do bring it into a strong applause position at the end. Bow, set the props down and bow again. Finally, if you speak in your act, say "may I show you one more thing? It's very special to me..." If you are silent, try to convey the same meaning. Then do the last effect. Try to end in a strong applause pose and make sure you are smiling.
For the strongest ending, choose an effect that features you as a magician and not a prop. And remember the effect is not as important as your belief in the effect and a strong, fast-paced build in the timing. Good luck, Richard |

Change your Zombie into a bird, mylar hat coil, spring flowers, a ball of fire, Silk fountain or confetti.
If you do Zombie make sure that you dim the lights to add ambiance.
