Hi Gang~
I need some help. I am developing my Daycare show for 2004-05. The show is a toy theme. I am calling it,"The Magic Toy Factory Show". Iam getting the show together, but having some problems coming up with a few more audience participation stuff for the show. Here is the format so far. 1-Warm-up a. Pom Pom Stick 2-Silent Magic to Music 3-Sucker Trick a. School Capers 4- Audience Participation a. (one kid) b. (one kid) c. solo d. ABC Puzzle 5- Closer a. Color Changing Wreaths Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

FWIW, I think you ought move the sucker trick from where it is.
My gut reaction is that the silent/ music trick needs to come before the audience participation. === hmmm..this is an afterthought (I guess #2 in the program, but it leaves me thinking you need a bridge between the warmup and the silent act, so I think you really need to move an audience participation trick up in the program to #2....I just added all this before hitting submit, so that's why it seems a little -- well , added on.) === That way you have a little better flow and a (theoretically) calmer group from which to make a choice of assistants. Also, (and I am pretty sure you know this) put your best item second to last -- the closer also ought to be quick and clean and over in a definite manner. A friend of mine once told me something that applies to scriptwriting, for either shows or for routining pseudo variety. "Once the witch is in the oven, the show is pretty much over so get off the stage." That is advice that has stood me in good stead for the past twenty years. BTW, the "next to last" rule isn't something I came up with -- a lot of vaudeville programs followed this rule pretty stringently. The big name or strong act was next to last to keep people in the theater and the closer was a good act that left the audience with a chance to wind down a little but still be entertained. How long is your show? It sounds like you have a lot of effects. Also it is hard to tell about the show because you are just telling us type of routine not what your doing with the routine. A type of routine can change, what I mean is there are a lot of sucker type routines and how you present it will set the tone. For example the pom pom stick could be a sucker effect. Could you tell us what your doing and how you are themeing the tricks with the show theme?
Nothing of the same will bring any change, take action today!

Are you selling "theme" shows to all the daycares?
Thats a good idea. I only advertise theme based shows to schools.
