This may have to be moved to a more protected area, but here's what I'm wanting to get rolling on. A card trick in which the selected card ends up attached to either an earring, bull ring (nose) or even tongue post.
Call it a challenge... I've played with this idea on and off for probably 20 years now adn simply don't like anything I've seen or come up with. Anyone game?

Well a full unfolded card will tend to be too hard to conceal while doing the loading sequence no matter how good your misdirection is. I'd start the thinking process with the Mercury Fold and work from there.
The next piece of the puzzle is how to get it (the card) pierced. You are going to need something on you that will do it in an instant like a hole punch, but not actually. I would only pierce one flap of the folded card and bend this flap back for the loading. This would make the job a little easier. The next piece of the puzzle will be in the loading process. I would think the tongue post to be the most impossible to load as you really can't get that ball off there quickly (there's a reason for that - haha!) Now onto the other two types. Both the nose (Bull) ring and the ear ring have pretty much the same make up - ie. a ring of varying thickness and a ball closure that keeps everything in place. I would start the thought process with leaving the ball out. It will be a discrepancy later that no one will notice. Next you will need the strongest misdirection for the Bull Ring as you will be fiddling with the front of your face. Get all the spectators involved in some ritual with the deck. The earring will be easier as you can just put your hand up there and pretend to scratch it or tug on it like Carol Burnette and no one will give it a second thought. Have I just stated the obvious or have I set you onto a new line of thinking? I couldn't tell either. HAHA! From the Dark Side, Doug

This is really not my area of knowledge, but as I read your post, I kept thinking about Tom's cigarette to card rountine, where the cigarette turns out to be, the selected card.
If the selected card was forced, then perhaps you could load, a cigarette with the card, do an effect to get the load into your mouth and then proceed to do whatever trick you wanted, to have the card reappear, in your mouth on your ring (getting it on the ring will require some work or a gimmicked card) It rough, but I will play with it. kevin |

Don't they have magnetic earrings? And by extension- spmething that you could use as a tounge post?
Anyway- use this magnetic stud in conjunction with a real post or earring. Punch the magnetic part into the card and bring up your hand with the deck (as well as your gaff) and let the magnetic part attach itself to the regular ring- you ring out the gaff as you take the stud apart to remove the card. Another option would be to use a loop in an earring as a pulley for a reel to bring the card up to your ear under misdirection. the thread would be attached to one part of an earring (the back) and your would get your hookup by connecting the earring to the post through the card.

Greetings,
Yep, I've seen torn-card-corner to tongue post. Once again, Magus has nailed the post on the head w.r.t. method. Note however, that this performer's showmanship is excellent and his misdirection was top-notch! I think that is prerequisite in this case. Sam Haine

My thinking back then was to riffle the deck next to my ear and have the chosen card "jump out" and attach itself to the earring... Ralph Arbatelli came up with the idea of a shimmed card and a magnetic ball on my earing... this worked, but not as clean as I liked. Another thought that was briefly discussed was to have one of my larger guaged earrings gaffed ala "Himber" ring... Oddly, it's something that's being reconsidered. Thanks gang!

Just a thought- Perhaps instead of bringing the deck to your ear...
How's about a thin stick, say 20", tucked in your belt at your back. One end has stickum/magnet/wire clip- whatever- for holding a card. A card is selected and returned (signed?)and controlled. Now- offer to the next trick with one hand behind your back, as your hand goes back, (RH) you grab the stick, you could bring the end of the stick around to your left side and steal the card from the deck. Turn your head to the left and bring the card up to your ear (using your favorite card to ear move), leave it there, put the stick back or bring it out as a wand (but now you're using two hands) and as you turn your head, they see the card. We'll call it the "muppet technique" Patrick

That brings back some horrid memories Magus... I used to work with Waylon Flowers
Needless to say, I'm rather familiar with the concept... funny, how the mind censors things from time to time.
