From reading various forums the short list of marketing 'books/courses' appear to be:

* "Secrets of a Millionaire Magician" by Randy Charach

* "Ultimate Insider Secrets, Marketing Program For Magicians - Millennium Edition" by Dave Dee

* "The Magician's Emergency Toolkit" by Millard Grubb

While I take the point that I should get all three in time, which one would you recommend that I go for first?
Warmest regards
James

Depends, what exactly are you look for? Each has it's stong and weak points. Dave Dee has a little $20 teaser floating around (put out by MagicSmith) that is jam packed with ideas. It's inexpensive, and you can see the "Thinking style" of Dave.

Randy Charach's book is written based on his experience that worked for him. The best part I found is it is loaded with reference and contact pages.

I am still reading the Toolkit. Still it looks like some great stuff!

Might I also suggest a few? Jeff Ezell's "21 Days to Marketing Success...Guaranteed!" It contains proven tricks and tips on gaining rapport and networking yourself.

A litle secret I (and others) have been holding onto is the Guerilla Marketing Series available at any Barnes and Nobles. Just cross out and add the word "performer" where needed, and you will have a great resource at your finger tips.

Just my 2 cents...

Check out the Joel Bauer books Hustle Hustle and the new one he put out with Mark Levy about persuation. EXCELLENT books and advice. Both contain some neat tricks too.

Deceptionguy,

Couldn't find Jeff Ezell's "21 Days to Marketing Success...Guaranteed!" on the web. It's not even mentioned on his website. Smile

The teaser is just that - a pitch for a larger course, however there are tips within which I believe justifies the price. Just my thoughts.

Ezell's course can be found at Hocus Pocus. Jeff asked that you look and purchase through them first.

Greetings James;
Deceptionguy made a very good recommendation about the Guerilla series, very highly recommended.
If you want to jump right in with some excellent material and advice...after checking out most of the programs out there, I personally recommend the package offerred by our own Café member Jim Snack. While I am not in the office right now, I will try to get that info to you later in the day, or you can do a search for Jim Snack here and see what Jim has to offer.
Jim's program plus the Guerilla series, should give you more than enough material to succeed. It all depends on how much you do as well since no course is going to spoon feed you success.
All the Best

Hi all,

This book, Marketing Success in 21 days, is available at http://www.Hocus-Pocus.com

Type Ezell under product search and it will pull up for you.

I have been selling it at my lectures and have received great responses.

I have compiled my experiences and ideas from managing auto dealerships to magic shops. (it was not all pretty) But you learn from your mistakes and improve on them. This is the final product of what has been working for me solidly over the last couple of years.

I have marketed myself as an entertainer and have used the same ideas to market a loan officer and others. Guess what, it works for anyone that needs to promote themselves. (without breaking your pocket book)

It is chock full of great ideas that work and is not filled with a bunch of filler words to make it thick. 30 pages of pure information.

Thanks a million and get yours today!

PS...I'm Jeff Ezell

I just purchased Jim Snack's course...a bit pricey but so far I'd say it's worth every penny!

Thanks everyone for the recommendations.

I'm fully booked for my kids shows but my corporate shows need more pushing.

So which of these is particularly good at selling to corporates?
Warmest regards
James

Can you give me some details on Jim Snack's course. Live in the UK and some of the marketing stuff is really suited to the United States and not Britain.
