Does anyone have a review of this Design Dup by Larry White? Here's the blurb at Hank Lee's:
From the brilliant mind of Larry White comes this outstanding piece of mental magic. Any spectator draws a picture on an opaque card and places it face down on the table. The card is then slid face down into a manila envelope. Still face down, this envelope is slid into a larger manila envelope. You never turn anything over. Any spectator may hold the envelopes, or they may be left lying on the table. With no false moves or "hankey-pankey," you are able to duplicate their picture perfectly! Get The Picture uses no carbons, clipboards or any type of impression devices. There is nothing to add or dispose of. It's self-contained and simple to perform. There is no get-ready or reset; it's always ready to perform. In addition to the basic routine, we have included routines from Steve Dusheck, Dan Tong (who is currently using Get The Picture in his restaurant shows) and Alan Wassilak. Get The Picture blows them away every time! They'll believe you really posses psychic powers. And, perhaps you do! Get with the program, get with the pros, get Get The Picture http://www.hanklee.org/xcart/customer/pr......p;page=7 Peace!

Larry White is a respected magician who has presented many very good products. You certainly don't have to like his current offering, but a little more information would be helpful to those of us who aren't familiar with it. What don't you like about it?

It's not angleproof nor is it examinable. But under the right conditions, this could probably be very strong. By the way, if you have Becker's Stunners Plus, you already own this routine.

Like Neil says, it isn't angle proof but should not be a problem with spectator management. However, I have never found the spectators want to actually check the envelope before or after performance.
The peek is quite nice and can be instant, which is nice. If you have Stunner's Plus have a read and make you own, cost me about a pound for the material.

I've always liked this effect. To take the heat off the envelope, simply use a similar envelope in an earlier routine, or use one to hold other items (like index or ESP cards). It's an easy matter then only to switch in the gaffed item.
Also, rather than pull out their drawing or word from the envelope to compare at the finish of the routine, make a big deal out of never needing to touch the envelope. (In fact, get it out of play by putting it into your pocket.) Then, hand the spectator a pad of paper and have them duplicate their drawing while you do the same with another pad. Then you both reveal at the same time. With the proper presentation, this becomes a "real time" mindreading effect, and can be extremely strong. A good performer can make this play well. Enough said. |

I called Dan Tong and asked him about this effect since his name is mentioned in the ad.
He said he used it for quite a while and said for the money it's a pretty good trick. Murf |

??? As a paid performer looking to add material to a professional act, this is a truly odd notion. - Greg Owen
