Hi,

I have recently been researching Richard Ross, but I have not found much information about his award-winning FISM act, or about his magic and his life.
Can anyone post any more information about him, from their experiences with him first-hand or from their knowledge?!
Did anyone here manage to see his FISM act live?
Is his FISM act on video anywhere, and where might I find it?

Thanks,
Sam

Yes..there are ppl around, who not only have seen his FISM act (1973/Paris) but also have it on video.

Have you tried Goggle for a search on RR?
There is lots of stuff out there.

But, pls. don't try to copy his act, he was one of a kind, though it is good to get inspired by watching him..
Others might be able to help you out more..

A friend of mine knew Richard Ross for a long time!
I am visiting The Magic Art Center, it was originally founded by Richard Ross and it is now still under supervision of Veronique Ross and Tommy Wonder!

It's great to be there!

If you have some questions I can try to answer them for you, but unfortunately I don't have anything about his FISM act!

The book that Ross is in as well as the others is The worlds Greatest Magic. Very good book.

Thank you, I just found it in our magic room.

That is the only one I remember off the top
of my head.

I remember him fondly, and Veronique, which
I didn't realized they married. I have photos
with him on the press tours that were in the
newspapers.

Good to see there are magic folk who remembered this superb magician. I have his full act on video (not sure if it's from the Mark Wilson show). His three ring routine is the opener, performed so slowly as to give the impression that the rings disolve one into the other. The background music is the Godfather theme and a bit too grandiose for such an understated worker. He then does superb billiard ball flourishes and colour changes, silk magic, and the production of oversized fob watches. The pace quickens as the watches grow long gold chains, then continue to multiply until the performer's hands are weighted down. I understand that his career path was to be a magician's magician. He certainly acheived that. Is it true that he become a doctor of medicine? I recall reading in a Linking Ring from the early seventies that perennial MIC Duke Stern lamented from the stage after another IBM convention was wowed by the young magico that "this fellow SERIOUSLY wants to be a doctor! What a loss to the world"
