I bought Harry Blackstone's version several years ago, it's not cheep but it's worth every $. All I can say is that it's a wonderful piece of magic, you can find more details here: http://azcostumes.com/catalog/product_in......22057e13 Jack.

Are there any floating lightbulbs left, or do they now have to be "floating compact fluorescent" bulbs?

If I were going to perform this, I would make my own. However, I understand that Gay Blackstone has performance rights on the bulb floating over the audience's head.

Combine D'Lites with a floating LED and you have quite a show, plus it is easy to achieve including a flight out over the heads of the audience and Gay Blackstone, too!

There is some deceptive advertising out there, they often say things like "Blackstone performed the floating light bulb..." but don't say what they are selling is the same, and similar statements. Blackstone version (Sr. or Jr.)has never been for sale. Quote:
