My name is Cheryl and I'm looking to start learning magic. I was wondering if there is anyone here from Houston willing to take on an apprentice. I'd really appreciate any help.

I would contact Bill Palmer through here at the Café. He could tell you all about the Houston Magic Scene.

There is a beginners class once a month at Frankels Costumes that you might be interested in. You can find all that information here: http://www.houstonmagic.com/ Good luck. PM me if you need more info.

If you ever get your head out of that bucket let me know what part of town you live in. I am trying to start an Orlando Magic Meet Up group for magic hobbyists in Houston, so far only one ohter Magician has expressed interest in this. I thought that Houston would be a great city for this since it is the 4th largest in the country, so far I've been disappointed. However the organized associations, SAM, IBM, TAOM, HAOM have execeptional participation; the SAM Assembly here offers monthly teaching lectures by notable national & international performers.
The only problem that I have with these wonderful groups is the conspicuous lack of learning and interacting opportunity with other magicians. There is no teaching and practicing sessions. That is why I am exploring this Meet Up thing. The Frankel's deal is limited to youngsters up to age 16 or 17 I think, it is basically sponsored by SAM as The Society of Young Magicians (SYM). If you are a minor then this is the ticket for you. On the other hand if you are an adult and if the west side is convenient for you send me a PM. I sent you a PM on this subject earlier. DickLucas
