You haven't narrowed down much exactly what you are looking into. The effect itself is a classic and a wonderful trick. Are you planning to do it close-up or on stage?
I think the master of the onstage presentation was Al Flosso, but few of us have his powerful personality that perfectly suited his presentation. There is a much overlooked version in Bruce Elliott's Classic Secrets of Magic (I think it's now been re-titled, "Secrets of the Great Magicians,) which is utter simplicity and does away with the need for the gimmicked buckets. Speaking of buckets there are a variety of types, depending on how skilled you are and how you want to execute the actual productions. The Ross Bertram bucket, Owen bucket, and the Vampire Bucket are all great examples of good high end buckets. Abbott's is a very good serviceable bucket. Herb Morrissey's, in my opinion, looks too strange with the weird handles. I believe a similar bucket is now being made from India. For close-up Bob Solari has a version which is okay, but if you can afford it, there is no question Joe Porper's Miser's Dream Cocktail Shaker is a near perfect piece of apparatus for this trick at the table. Well, that's a start. |

Jeff McBride does what I call "Today's Flosso" - like Flosso, his routine is pure simplicity.
No gaffes needed. Just a bucket and a handful of coins. All are based on what Charlie Miller described in Magicana and I believe in Bobo's Modern Coin Magic. It is ALL SELL. No hard moves required. Just doing it over and over and over again will build the routine. If you want a mechanical version for a bar situation, sure Porper's is great (not cheap but you can't miss with it).
