The seller has not re-listed this kind of cup, though. I've got no problem with the fellow selling the cups. I have no problem with him getting $74.00 for them. They are worth that. I DO have a problem with him saying that they are Paul Fox cups. It's a lie!

Havnt been to the Café in a while.
But the few times that I have been here Mr. Bill Palmer always seems to amaze me with his knowledge of cups. He is really one of a kind. Now I am just wondering when he is going to release the "cup-police" dvd.. "If he had been a member of the Café, he would have known better" I say if he had been a member of the Café he would have contacted you first to confirm if they were real. - Richard |

This thread brings up an interesting question.
A couple of months ago, I placed a damaged original Danny Dew/Paul Fox cup on eBay for bidding. A potential bidder asked me how I could prove it was an original. I realize that this is a very good question. Now that the Magic Makers cups are available and extremely close to looking exactly like a Dew/Fox cup, how can anyone tell a definite difference? I have both sets, and if both were cleaned up, I believe it would be hard to tell, especially by a novice (i.e., not knowing weight differences and other possible subtleties). Terry

If you place the two of them mouth downwards on a table, I can tell you which is which without picking either one of them up. It's not difficult at all. The Magic Makers cups have a flat area in the bottom of the depression. The genuine Danny Dew cups do not have this.
You can even see this in most of the photographs. Of course, if the damage is at that point, then most of the bets are off. Original Danny Dew cups varied in weight from about 2.3 ounces to a little over 4 ounces.
