Has anyone seen performed a Three shell with cards???
I've seen it done in paris by a couples of africans, and they told me the three shells actually comes from there... what do you think? It could be a cool piece of routine, perhaps managing to do a three shell AND a monte with just a pea and three cards... covering the pea with any card and making it reapear under the monte card??? Could it be possible to do both at the same time, the pea finding it's place right under the queen of spade (the monte card?)Would be cool... gone practicing Also, it could be very pleasant (with a certain advantage) to use the Swadling card (provided with Bob Swadling's flippercoin) combined with the S4S pea... Imagine the possibilities!!! I'm dreaming... Any thoughts?

Don't think I am clear on how this would work. How are the cards mixed so that the pea stays under one of them? What are the spectators trying to guess?

I thought that the three shell game with cards was called three card monte... What you are talking about could be matrix...

The idea of mixing both is not really thought of yet.
Now for the shell game using cards instead of shells, I've been thinking of how he could have done it... I've been trying with the pea and a "french pea" made of ... could not tell, & not important... I'm only trying to guess how he did it... So, 3 things came up: 1) The result is, as WhitHayden points, the pea'z going out... But whith practice, I find it possible to grab it with the index&major?.. or magor/ringfinger... (I don't know if I'm clear on that point...)and hold it that way... But I feel akward... and think I flash it easily. would be a modified version of the shell technik. 2) maybe they used a matrix as Glenn Bishop suggest. They would then use 2 peas 3) I had a flash: it wasn't a pea but a simple piece of bread Which can stick under a card... My thinking, concerning the moves he made was null. My memory fails on this one but for the most I recall, he used the all above methods as he was sometime using (I guess) coin technique for showing a card empty (when not... Thank you Beauxbeaux...) when moving the cards, he used variant methods, shuch as lifting switching in circles and shell routines too (moving card up then down in another place...) The cards litteraly flew in every directions The thing is: he certainly baffled me... I guess he didn't have the chance we all have here surfing the internet and had to survive to feed the family... But what a great scam! Gentlemen, it is an honor to chat with you! May your glass be ever full May the roof over your head be always strong, And may you be in heaven Half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.

I still don't understand the nature of the game. Did he move the cards around, and if so, how did the pea, bread ball move with them? Were the cards bent? What did people try to follow? What were they betting on? If they bet on which card the pea was under, why wouldn't it be under the one they saw it under? I really don't care about the methods. Just trying to figure out the game.

I saw a guy do a cards and match head routine with three bent cards like in three card monte. But the routine is a cups and balls routine.
I think it is in the Dai Vernon Book of Magic. But I could be wrong...

No, you're not wrong. It's Welsh Miller's Cards and Matches and it's found right after Charles Miller's "Cups and Balls Move."

Yes, but that is not the same as a scam. How do you set up the cards and pea so that someone thinks they know where the pea is and is willing to bet on it? The pea can't simply move on its own from one card to another like magic. Who would bet against that? I don't understand how this is supposed to work as a scam on the street as described.
If you move the cards around to confuse the crowd, why would the pea move along with them? Wouldn't it be visible when the cards are moved? What causes it to travel? Why are the suckers convinced they can follow the pea enough for them to bet? |

I guess sometime, he made it stick under the card, but sometime( most of the time, he made the bread ball roll with the cards even flashing it (intentionally?) at times... quite confusing I know... Were the cards bent? Yes they were, and the handling was almost each time different (position of fingers on the card) What did people try to follow? the bread ball... adding the monte is just a crazy though I'm trying to add... but could be too difficult to follow for a scam I must admit... What were they betting on? If they bet on which card the pea was under, why wouldn't it be under the one they saw it under? Great question! Because I never really SAW the number of the cards... only there backs (i know there's a word for the "back of the card...) How do you set up the cards and pea so that someone thinks they know where the pea is and is willing to bet on it? Just as you set up shells The pea can't simply move on its own from one card to another like magic. Thing is I guess he could have done it with blank cards, and the pea moves like in the shell game (with added sleights?
