I do not have any of Lennart’s work but I do like what I have seen. So I just saw them on ebay and got the set for £74 I don't know that's a good or bad deal.
What I want to know is this when I get these, will I be able to do the moves that look impossible on the previews? Like the laser deal, etc. Yes I can wait and see. I am impatient and would like to know if any of you guys got them and found the work just too difficult. I do not expect it to be easy, but do I have to be a Lennart Green or a Vernon to handle it?

It's quite hard technique but...
With practice it goes well. Some moves require big hands but most are for everyone. |

If you have the patience and dedication to practice, you will be able to do the moves [insert magician's name here] teaches. You don't need extra fingers or thumbs to do [said magician's] work, but you need control of the ones you have.

Thanks, it was just that I have not seen any other cardician do the laser deal.
Let me ask a more specific question: Who, here, can do the laser deal has good has or better than Lennart? :)

It's not really that hard. It's just different, and some people have a hard time adjusting to doing things the "smart" way. Lennart's sleights and effects are totally amazing, and if you utilize the sleights you'll learn from the series, than your abilities are bound to skyrocket

My card handling went up 10 fold after getting this series. I have no real need for the Laser deal which is very nice but the rest of the DVD's really helped my card handling.

His FISM act on DVD #1 is worth the price of all 6 DVDs.
I attended the video shoot for 4,5,6. Very entertaining. He did a lot more than cards but I don't know if that made any of the DVDs.

Frank,
That's very interesting. Could you describe the effects he did other than with cards? Coins? Some productions like whiskey bottles, glass of liquid, etc., were shown on the videos - and his shoe would occasionally appear in the deck! Lawrence |

Thanks Guys
Very interesting comments. The last thing that I expected was for a cardman to say, be prepared for extremely boring. It will be a first for me if I find any cardwork boring. Perhaps SwissKid 52 means hard work. I will let all know what I think when I get them. In particular I will let know how difficult I think it is. If I say I can do it, them be assured anyone can, because I am nothing speacial. Frank Did you witness Lennart in tears trying to get something right, like Ed Marlo with his match box snap change on the Cardician. I would like to see the out takes from a lot these DVDs that are sold.

I have the first DVD and some of his ideas are absolutely ingenious. Even if you take away one or two ideas that you will use, you will be satisfied. I use the float pass and some of his false cuts quite frequently. he also has a great section on the lateral palm on the first tape that is first rate.

His work on lateral palm is amazing. I was just going over volume one last night. There are some crazy false cuts on there, flourish and sybil style. I thought that he probably should have slowed it down a little bit, but after watching it many times over it becomes clear. If you are watching them on a windows computer, try to slow down the speed. I don't have 2 and 3, but I have 4,5, and 6. Anyone know if I'm missing anything godly? I know I am, but I still fear the answer.

He did a bit of stand-up material…bits and stuff.
Seated rope trick with surprise finish…I guess you'd call it a final load... Coins Across I think. He used my wedding ring for something. Might have been the coins across. I forget. Then when there were some technical difficulties in the filming, he basically did his entire FISM act for everyone instead of just waiting around. Before the filming, there was a "good" magician in the audience that just would not stop doing tricks no matter how many times the spectators yawned and looked bored so I'm glad Lennart saved the day during the delay otherwise this guy might have decided to take the stage to "entertain" us...brrrrr.... I thought part of being "good" was knowing when to stop. Posted: Oct 25, 2004 1:17pm ------------------------------------ I don't know if it's on 2 or 3 but he has a great Out of this world with a borrowed / shuffled deck. It's a multi-phase routine but he's able to take a shuffled deck and get it into red-black order while it's face up and nobody knows. I was amazed. I've used that routine several times, when I run out of my usual stuff and you're asked to do more. The multi-phase routine is kind of long so I never do it unless the right time comes along.

It's worth watching him just to get back that feeling of amazement. Usually when I watch someone doing a trick I'm not amazed because even if I don't know what they're doing I know that they're doing something. With Lennart you won't even realise that he's doing something.

I never cease to be amazed by cardmen. For example why are you Acting as a Russian Jew from early 1800s ? Thanks.

I was in the US about a month ago and I was asked to act in a play that was being produced by some of my friends. It was about the forced conscription of Jewish children in Tsar Nikolai's army (cantonists). I was beaten and tortured (had my hand chopped off) and finally killed because I was unwilling to convert to Christianity.

Which remind me of the following joke:
In WWII the Jews in one of the concentration camps were ordered to put on a play for the benefit of the Red Cross. They had to play Jesus and his 12 apostles. When they found out that a high ranking nazi was to be Jesus and the apostles were all kapos they agreed to do the play. However, they made on condition...that the nails must be real! |

Just finished watching the Lennart Green DVDs. I think I read a quote somewhere to the effect that 'if God did card magic it would be like Lennart Green'.
It's not an exaggeration. Of all the magic DVDs and Videos I've watched, this set is the only one that has made me feel really guilty and uncomfortable about the fact that these secrets have been given up to me. There should have been some sort of monumental test/quest required before these principals and techniques where shown! The only thing that makes me feel a bit better is the dedication required to master them... Anyway could someone please bribe/force/cajole Richard Kaufman or some other publisher into publishing 'The Classic Card Magic Of Lennart Green' or some such. DVDs are great but Lennart's work without question deserves the classic 'weight' and indeed historical record that a big hardback book would afford... |
