Will the doves babies mate when they get older. If they do will the babies come out normal.

This is only my opinion but with much truth, other's will help more. Don't RISK IT if they are from the same parents. They can turn out very wrong.... But there is a chance they won't.

Mike, males and females will mate regardless of whether they are from the same clutch or not. In breeding can result in deformity. There is no guarantee one way or the other but DJ is correct. I wouldn't risk it. Having said that, I have 4 birds in my act that are all related and I haven't had any trouble with them. It was beginners luck and I don't mix same family birds any more just to be safe.

In white Java doves the most common problem believed to be the result of in-breeding is hemophilia (free bleeder disease).
Lucy and I keep about a hundred white doves all the time, but we try to avoid in-breeding. In fact we purposefully add new blood lines into the flock. My absolute favorite doves are the ones crossed with pieds. I have a few (too few) that look just like the regular white doves except that they are larger and have black eyes. They seem hardier than most doves. Bob Magic By Sander |

Hi Mike,
I agree with the other guys. I have a a few babies that have been not quite right. I can only assume this if from inbreeding. Their feathers took a very long time to come out and they are rather fragile. One dove has an eye that isn't quite right. I have to keep them away from the other doves so they don't get pecked to death. Dakota Rose
