People,
Currently Two collegues and Myself are doing a Small Parlour show in a Club on a Wednesday night. The show has been running for around 18 weeks or so. Unfortunatly the numbers are dropping and dropping, Who has advice on HOW to get the average person interested in coming along to see MAGIC. At present we only have some simple flyers advertising this, We are thinking of street press, possibly a COMMUNITY RADIO SPOT. (any advice on approaching a radio station welcome.). We have tried doing some close up in the bar before hand to get people in, But as the clientele mainly consist of backpackers and specially on a wednesday night they are reluctant to pay the cover charge to see some nobodies doing a magic SHOW... ANY ADVICE PLEASE... `peace. |

Radio is very EASY to get on. We did a show and we went to a radio company that held 4 radio stations and we ended up getting on two stations instead of one.
All you do is call them up and say that you just want to get some air time. It is worth the time. We had many people that came to the show due to the radio. Here are other suggestions: Local Newspaper Local town add paper Radio Your local News to get a slot on the air in prime time. Just call and look around. The free advertisement is there if you look in the right places. Michael

Another great method I have used is your local community papers that have both Online Calendars as well as Weekend or Weekly What's going on style sections. Almost all papers have these and they will post your blurb and info for FREE. All you need to do is contact them via e-mail from their website or call.
I have a bunch set up on my system at home and every show I do I send out an e-mail to all of them and they always place the information in the paper. It is free and easy way to get your show information out there. PM me for more details on this. Kyle

As always very good advice from Kyle. When I first read this topic it was exactly what I was thinking of.
