Hi folks,
just thought I'd share a little something with you that happened to me last night. I had a gig at a posh house by Hampton Court Palace. I was on after the fireworks and food! I was happily doing my thing and had everyone watching wide eyed when I gracefully moved into R.O's card calling. I rarely do this as I prefer to make a main feature out of his 'thought of card'. However, I thought it would be nice to pop the 'thought of card' back into position and continue with card calling. The chosen lady came up and grabbed a 'clump' of cards and off I went. After I'd called about 6 or 7 cards I turned to climpse how many cards were left. "Holy smokes", I thought. She must have had about twenty cards left! I then realised that I hadn't taken care in offering her the cards at the start. Nor had I noticed how many she had grabbed. The terrible thing is, I have no idea why I didn't notice - I just didn't. I made a little joke out of it saying "I hope none of you have booked early taxi's?" I quickly decided that I couldn't stop. If I did it would surely look as though I had just got lucky with a handful of cards. I had no choice but to see it through. I moved rapidly through 10 or 12 cards, which got nice gasps, then slowed it down in preparation for the final two cards. Although lengthly, the routine went down a storm! I made a 'mental' note to punch myself in the face when I got home for being careless, and carried on with the show. The reason I write this little post is to remind us all to concentrate properly when working. Common sense I know, but if one person out there takes extra care next time because of this post then my experience was worth it! I for one will be carrying smelling salts from now on! While on the subject, Richard, if you are reading this, thank you sooooo much for releasing your material. It truly is awesome! I hope you take the time to remind yourself of your achievements every now and then. If not, you should! There is nothing wrong with an occassional bit of self appreciation - especially under the blankets on a Tuesday evening! Also, I want to tell you all that I performed 'Mind Control' for the first time. I had been curious to see if it works well, so I put it in. I'd spent a couple of weeks working on it to fit my style. I did it as my penaltimate effect. It really got amazing reactions. Way beyond the usual. It seemed to really hit the spot with people. Thinking about it afterwards on the way home, I decided that it came across as the real deal for people. Because they were following what I was doing, they must have felt that it was truly possible to make someone see something that wasn't really there. It has actually made me re-think my repertoire. I will be making a few changes based on these reactions. Funny eh? I've doing all this for yonks and all of a sudden, in one night, it's all turned upside down! Aaahhhh, doctor theatre!! Thanks for listening. Matt.

Funny you sat that, I has a very simular experience with MR Osterlinds Watch routine last week.
Used acidus Novice to get the time,, got the peek very clearly, had the totally correct time, some how by the time I got to the watch I had some how mentally changed a 2 into a 7. so the time on the watch was off except for the half hour , so it had half 7 insted of half 2, and to make matters worse I forgot about setting the watch a few minutes before time leving the watch slightly off of the tiem I had pre written. Fiest time I ever had this happen, I guess I was over cinfident, it won't happen again. H.W

I saw Marc Spellman perform today his incredible Mind Control, if I done more stage work (More??...Any!!) I would snap that up in an instant. I know to us in the know it looks quite obvious but I put myself in the position of the spectators as much as possible (as I spoke about at mength with Mr. Nardi).
This will be (is!) a killer in front of the laity (ergh, what a horrible word) and Marcs performance was real smooth, a very nice drawing dupe was also demonstrated which was real time, I think this guy has some real workable material under his belt and I for one have put the Spellman DVDs on my crimbo list alongside the osterlinds!! Curt.
