Harry Lorayne's book, How to Develop a Super-Power Memory, explains the PEG system in wonderful detail. I have learned it just this past weekend and suggest that it as it is so useful beyond the one application of learning a stacked deck (which he offers in the book, BTW, but the stack is not the BCS).

I have for various reasons chickened away from memorized decks all my life (the main reason probably is that I have been too lazy to learn the systems )
Well...I got the MBCS a few days ago, learned it in a few hours, and couldn't be more enthusiastic!!! I have already tried it out on a few friends (-I used as suggested Mark's device) after having done the Corinda effect, and the routine just killed!!! My opinion is, that you couldn't have a more powerful tool for doing mentalism with cards, than the combination of BCS and the memorized stack!! I noticed that Vraagard and I believe a few other Europeans talked about translating the system into their languages. I did NOT, I learned it as it is in English, and that works just great. Most of the other Europeans on this forum's English is far better than mine. Due to that, I wouldn't recommend to take the time and work with the translations, - just use it as it is. If I can make that work, so can they. Sven

I used to have a memory course that I 'borrowed' from my dad - he paid hundreds for it. It was by a guy called Dr Bruno Furst.
It was brilliant and very easy to read, I keep seeing it pop up on ebay from time to time and think I should buy it again. Oddly enough I still remember the system even though I don't use it, and it had a section on memorising cards in it too. I love the idea of memorising the BCS and had started to go down that route myself before this came out. |

Harry Loryane Develop a Super Power Memory is a fantastic book and would probably be all you need. Its very cheap under a tenner. However there was a post a while back that gave you a link to the whole book FREE!
Apparently its online and free now...do a search. |

Above, I posted a link to another post by Mr. Osterlind that gave the PEG system for learning the BCS. The link from my post was deleted. Why?

Apparently because of exposure.
MBCS is a marketed system by now. Sven

Just for the record, I had nothing to do with that. Without the "how" and "why" of it, you couldn't use the word list anyway. And, if you do have some of Harry's materials, then you would know how to do it in the first place. When I posted that list, I was amazed because so many were saying the BCS wasn't a memorized stack when, in fact, ANY deck can be memorized. All I did in my recent ebook is do the work myself.
Just for the record, I gave the memory "pictures" I have always used myself. Harry thought that some of them could have been better. For instance, 2 of the links are naturals: ie. suit and tie and then later door and knob. I decided they would stand out BECAUSE they are naturals. Harry said he would have prefered seeing a person wearing a suit around his neck like a tie! Another one that bothered him was Ma standing on a Dock waving. Harry thought that was too "normal" and would have rather seen a person stepping off the dock onto a boat that was your Ma! You can see the idea. If any of my pictures don't make a good impression, simply look for a more incredible or outrageous picture to use! Thanks, again, for all the support! Richard |

And I should have added to my previous post that it was very generous of Mr. Osterlind to offer the memory pegs in the earlier thread. And seems reasonable to remove it now.

I thought it was difficult at the start, but after spending a half hour a day on each section, I cracked it.

Jan;
I do it in English, and that works great! I guess that as long as you have the pictures in your mind, it doesn't matter what language you think in. I recommend you to try that rather than remaking the whole system Sven

Thanks for that. I am a committed user of the BCS, and it is good to see a bit of expansion into memory work, although I agree with you... not sure it is really needed.

Okay, I just got the regular BCS last night (Hi Jim, if you're reading this ;-)
and I must say it's quite clever, as well as undetectable. My question is, is there anthing the standard BCS might do that the MBCS can't, or should I say isn't as good at doing ? IOW, is there a benefit of having both ? Or is the MBCS simply more powerful ? Perhaps it's just a matter of balancing ease of use against power ?
Just hanging out with the rest of my fellow dregs.

I already have Richard Osterlind’s BCS and think it’s great.
I’ve now just bought his MBCS. It’s a neat little tome, and will stretch my brain, but the end result looks so strong. I can see the appeal, and the ultimate sense of satisfaction that it offers.
