I am currently working on a routine which involves me having to (half way through the act) produce a lit torch (which will light up a fire-box type illusion. Ideally, (if there is such an effect) I would like to make the torch appear from nowhere - perhaps by using a similar principle to the appearing canes(?)however, it would be nice if it was fully lit as well when produced! Is there such an effect out there?
If not, I was looking into perhaps a cane which transforms suddenly into a burning torch... (probably a gimmick which you attach to the vanishing cane). I think in another post, someone mentioned that the vanishing cane used in the 'cane to torch' effect can be plastic - Is this true? (I have had bad experiences in the past with metal canes!). Any help, suggestions of ideas or products would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

I have changed a torch into my Fantasio appearing cane many times. works just fine. Make your own torch.
The only way I am aware of to produce a lit torch is to build an igniting system into the torch (striker, electric, flash paper) lastly, you can always search magic catalogs. s |

Hi
Flame to cane is better with a metal cane. I still have a jacket with a melted lining due to producing a lit torch - got the timing slightly wrong. Paula

Yes there is an effect that transforms a Cane(plastic or Metal) into a lit and flaming torch. I currently use it in my show now. I was given the prop by Morrissey Magic to test out. I beleive it retails for around $40 but Im not sure since I was given the prop. It works great, I think it is manufactured in India. But it has yet to fail, it ignites every single time. And it looks fantastic. You can try and contact Morrissey Magic(Toronto Canada) and see if they are still stocking the unit. Tell Im sent you.

Many magic dealers sell an appearing lit torch. The ones in the UK are usually called "Apollos torch" and made by Colin Rose. You can pull a lit torch from your jacket, hat , a silk etc.

The torch I was speaking of can also be done the same aswell you just need a short tube to host the torch in the hidden place before production.
