Has anybody read the book entitled "Secrets of a Millionaire Magician" by Randy Charach? If so, what are your comments on its effectiveness/worth? Do you recommend it despite the steep price that it sells for? Thanks in advance for any input.

A magician who embodies imagination, confidence, technical proficency, a real command of seventh grade English and a strong work ethic need only pick up any good text on salesmanship to synthesize a workable marketing plan. No collection of CDs, cassettes, conference calls or booklets can teach imagination or confidence to those individuals having none. Most advise the purchasers of the need to improve their oral and written communication skills but incorporate no systematic methods to do so. A strong work ethic cannot be taught. The seed of it is within an individual at birth and nurtured to fruition through imitation and emulation. That leaves only technical competence and these systems mention the need for it or assume that it already exists. The successful candidate will already have all of these attributes in his bag of tricks and only lacks a way to put it all across to potential clients. Pick up any one of the thousand works on salesmanship. Locate one written by a red hot automobile or real estate salesman. You will learn more about the right closes for the right customers, more angles on free or low cost promotion and advertising than you thought existed and the discipline of reducing your goals and the means of achieving them to written business plans and budgets. All of this in a text that you may find in a large public library and will be found in any good book store priced at a fraction of the cost of these personal success programs. The millionaire magician is likely the magician who packed it in with the performance grind, decided to work smart under the flag of "giving back to the magic community" by teaching the secrets of his or her personal success to the faithful. If those secrets were to be really taught; They would be the secrets of promoting personal success schemes. This is, of course, only a personal opinion to which I am entitled. |

Anyone can be as successful as he or she wants to be. That is the bottom line truth. But, like stated above, unless you are willing to take immediate action and WORK at what you read and learn, you will never get anywhere no matter what system, book or tape you buy.
The problem with systems or books or tapes is not in the system or product itself, the problem lies within each and every one of us. The majority are just flat out LAZY! We do not want to take the work or the action or the steps involved to improve ourselves. Rather we would all just like to wait for the phone to ring with people scraming to book us for their event. The sad part is, that will never happen unless they know who you are and you give them a REASON to hire you. Anyone can sit there and tell you how to do it and what to do. But unless you are willing to make the change in your own ways, and unless you are determined to succeed, then it will be a total waste of time. Personal success programs are NOT wrong. Many of these magic marketing and success systems are 100% totally valid and are worth more then the price they offer. They are a gold mine of opportunity. But that is just it. It is a gold mind of opportunity for the right person willing to take the knowledge and RUN with it. If the person is lazy, has no drive or ambition or golas, then the system WILL be a waste of time and a waste of money. But if the person is driven to succeed and has a drive and determination to take action upon what he or she reads, then these systems are totally 100% valid and do work. How do I know? Because I have not only tried them, but I have used them and I have seen the change in my own magic business. BUT, it was ME who made the decision to make it work no matter what. The price of any course pays itself off even if you land just 1 job from anything you read in it. That is the beauty of any system you buy. They do work if you let them work. Just my humble opinion. I agree with all of the above. I have declared a moratorium on purchasing any new business success courses until I have faithfully gone through and diligently applied all of the concepts in the books that I already have.
My own weakness is in wanting the next "big" thing that is going to be the answer to all of my marketing woes. There are plenty of people out there willing to relieve you of your hard earned cash to sell you recycled ideas about business success. I agree what was stated above about some magic marketing programs being more of a model for how to make money selling magic marketing programs. I have purchased some excellent programs and I have gotten burned. The Café' has been a great source for helping me separate the wheat from the chafe. I have found one that works for me, Jim Snack's course, and I am working through that and trying to really apply the principles with serious effort. In the meantime, I am avoiding purchasing yet another course in success, to me it seems like a dog chasing its tail. |
