Concerning the Osterlind pen, is it only available from his site? Or do dealers also sell it?>
Check around. I think Hank Lee sells it, maybe even Hocus Pocus.

He is asking is if the pen is self contained in its operation and it is. It uses no magnets or threads to make it tip. My post to him is completely accurate. :) |

This is an old thread, but I wonder if there are any additions to the PK pen market? I am thinking of buying Cesaral's but will also look to Banachek's and Osterlind's.
Any others worth considering? Also, what about the variations (PK twig and pencil, for example). I know you are all mentalists here, and I am just an intruder from the Little Darlings, but I want this for a flea circus-type animation. Which would be best for that? Thanks. Todd |

How about Penomenon? That seems like a low budget alternative. Do I need lo**s for that one?
Thanks, Todd |

Todd. Banacheck. All others IMHO have a down side. Cesaral, is good because of the b****** point, but requires you carry an extra something to re-set it. I keep Banachecks with me along with 2 matching normal pens. It's the one I have kept coming back to.

Thanks. Where do I get Banachek's?
I could not locate Googling, here at Café, or at Hank Lee's. Anyone got it's formal name? Thanks for helping a mentalist novice . . .And hey, if you have any questions about the magic coloring book, I'm your guy . .. |

Thanks for the nice words from those of you that have the "Cesaral Psychokinetic Pen".
You should also consider having the whole set (Pencil, and twig). It is worth it. All of them work with the same principle, but the pencil and the twig allows for example to fall from the spectators hand, and without any reset, fall afterwards from a glass. This is great. Of course, and as some of you said, the three psychokinetic elements (Pen, Pencil, and Twig) can be fully examinable, and the audience member can not repeat what you did with them. The pen was pulled off the market due to this rip-off, do a search here, and you'll get an idea of how unprofessional Chung was about this. Osterlinds pen is more powerful in that you can cause the pen to move with your palms open. He gives a rather excellent demo of this in one of his DVDs. Gaffing a pen isn't hard, Sharpie included, it's how you cause it to move, and what you do with it after you've got it that makes all the difference. While I don't use it, I do recommend Osterlinds pen, if for no other reaosn than his guide is well worth the price. |

I have used different PK pens, but my favorite is the one put out by Larry White, which is a simple Bic pen.
For Sharpies, you should check out the DVD, "Magic with Markers." |

I love the idea that Bob Cassidy had for Bic Pens. Also, apply a second principle such as what makes penomenon function and you have a miracle.

Thank goodness to the late great Larry White for starting this all. Larry's effect was actually an outgrowth of an old effect where a match would fall off the table or bar edge.
I agree Cassidy's routine is one of the best and shouldn't be mentioned again. Reuben you are so right! It doesn't matter what the pen looks like or what the method is as long as you present it correctly. Obviously you want a pen that doesn't look "suspect" but take any pen, marker, or pencil and make it move or fall.....people will be impressed no matter what the brand name of the pen. : ) Sure....you also want one that will work every time. If you ever worked with some of the older versions you know you really have to "live" with the pen for a few days to understand the exact placement and timing. Just a minuscule difference in your actions will make or break the effect...so it must be practiced. Most of you know exactly what I mean. There are other factors such as the climate that will effect things too. D. Juan Sanchez contacted me a couple years back and we have been offering his version ever since. Juan is a master at these pens and often uses two, three, and even four at a time. He has also been known to have several normal objects like a lighter, pen, box of raisins etc. and create and "energy" that causes all of the items to fall or move one at a time....or all at once. My favorite use of the pen is when I perform at private events. I combine the movement and falling of the pen with another effect, and that is their TV mysteriously turning on and off while the pen moves and then falls. Spooky stuff. This is explained in the instructions that come with Juan's pen. For those interested you can check out Juan's pens here: http://kranzomagic.myshopify.com/collect......-sanchez All the best, Kranzo
