I was reading through Roger Klause's Soft Muscle effect that appeared in The Collected Almanac, in this routine you musle pass two coins into your left hand, but it has to apper as though only one coin has travelled. In the description it says that if using soft coins, that it is possible to muscle pass multiple coins silently. I have mucked around with this for a few days, but to no avail...has anyone else tried this?
If so do you have any tips on getting this silent? Owen P.S. If you can do a SMCMP, then you should certainly check out this effect, it reads very well. |

This routine(when Roger does it) uses halfs, which tend to be "softer" than dollars. However I did have a set of five morgans at one time that were soft soft they almost stuck together. But alas my bag was stolen and they were in there.

There is a knack to this...really can't explain it...but once aquirred...it will always work...don't try to do it with your hands to far apart...and do it "softly".

Thanks for the tips...I am using very worn coins, and I mean very worn ones...They are 1817 Half crowns, which are almost just discs of metal. They are slightly larger than the half dollar though.
Does anybody know a contact address for Roger Klause, as I want to mention an idea which I have created that spawned from a routine of his. Thanks again for the advise, I had better go get practicing! owen |

I don't know if this will help or not but you can try adding a SMALL amount of moisture to one side of the coins. If you apply the moist (not wet) side to the dry side of the other coin they will usually stick for a short (very) amount of time. This will only work with worn coins. It creats (for lack of a better term) a vaccum. I hope that helps......later

One other tip I forgot to mention...when the coins hit the left hand...allow the l. hand to move a little to the left. This way the coins don't come to a sudden stop.

Thanks for all the advise. I have found, since writing, that closing the left hand quicker than normal, so that the left fingertips always remain in contact with the coin, helps. The fingertips need to be traveling faster than the coin, and this way the coin is pushed along by the fingertips.
The problem with wetting the coin is then having to show later that there are two single coins, whilst it is of course possible, it means that you have to do some manipulation in the closed left fist so as to separate the two coins. Thanks Again, Owen |

I have personally seen this done with three or four walking halfs (if I remember correctly). It can be done, it just takes a lot of time and patience. I know I am working towards that end.
Man, I hope he chooses a card soon!
