I found this by accident while searching Amazon and bought it without really knowing anything about it. I received it yesterday and wow, what a book. Only $13 new! Just did a search to find other opinions and looks like I made a good choice.

In my opinion, you made one of the best choices you could make. I don't understand why every magician doesn't have a copy of this book.

I agree with the advice to get two decks of cards, each a different color. You might want to have a third deck of your favorite color for times when a duplicate card is needed. I also agree with the advice to get a close-up pad. Any that you see on hocus-pocus will be fine. You mentioned that you want to get a soft thumbtip. I would also get a hard thumbtip. Both soft and hard can be fit to your thumb, and you may find that you like the hard tip better. (I do, but opinions vary). They're cheap, and its worth comparing. Have fun!

My wife bought it for me for Christmas 12 years ago (was just my girlfriend then), and it's still in good condition today. The cups were really too small and cheesey for me to use, but the silks and rope were nice. It also came with a wand and some yellow sponge balls. I thought she paid around $29 for it, but I could be wrong. I think the masked magician got half his ideas out of the back of the book ! It's a great book, but I don't much care for the directions for doing an overhand shuffle.

I got my hardcover edition, virtually unused (looked like many of my old college textbooks) for $3 from abe books online. awsome deal.
Also get royal road because it is very affordable, portable and great instruction. YOU CANT GO WRONG unless you don't read it.

There is no TT work in Mark Wilsons. Look to Gary Darwin, or Patrick Page for TT work.
Magic is fun!!!

Just received Mark Wilson book after reading all the good things about it ,made me wonder what I missed all the years. I was glad I got this book ,I think for the cost of the book ,it is one of the best book out for magic. I would tell anyone to add this to their magic books.

Excellent book. I really like the Chapstick Caper at the end of the book and Sucker Torn and Restored Napkin.

Having seen this recommended many times , I thought I should get it just to have in a collection. It is indeed an excellent beginners book, one of the best "starter" routines for Cups and Balls. in my opinion.
