I really want to learn stage hypnosis. I found this website http://tomsilver.com/stage_hypnosis_pkg.htm
Has anyone tried the "Tom Silver's COMPLETE STAGE HYPNOSIS VIDEO SEMINAR THE ULTIMATE HOW-TO STAGE HYPNOSIS COURSE! " ?

It looks very cool. We don;t have hypnosis school in Indonesia as far as I know. Do you think the dvd is helpful ?

Thanks !!

I am afraid I shall be giving the wage old advice, read McGill's Encyclopedia of Stage Hypnosis, you can get this from Amazon.

I listened to Bill O'Connell's Hypnosis audio series yesterday and found them very good also. The advantage of audio is you can here that all important voice intination, I got it from Steven's Magic Emporium

Other titles are from Trickshop.com, Robert Nelson (from H&R Magicbooks)

Hope this is helpful

Dear Kennedy,
I just finish reading the McGill's Encyclopedia book. I just wonder where should I go from that ?
I mean, a training will be good after learning some basics from the book.

Master what you have read before you move on.... With hypnosis it is important you walk before you start to run.

Sirus 666,
I understand what you mean. But frankly, it is very difficult to visualize the book. I mean, I just want to see how it should be done in front of the audience or subject. I think a training is very helpful.

Stage Hypnosis is very new in my country.

What you'll see from Tom is not for the beginner. You need to find your own ground.

Have you tried any of the waking hypnosis suggested in the McGill book? You need to understand how the suggestion works, rather than look to others for presentation.

If you are unsure of exactly what hypnosis is and how it can work for you. There an excellent little book by Raphael Rhodes which will give you some wonderful theory.

I'm not suggesting for a second that you don't understand what actually goes on. It just sounds as if you are looking for some sort of backup.

If you already have the McGill book I'd also suggest building up your confidence by reading and putting into practise the HypnoTrix which are written up.

Please understand this is only my opinion and I am drawing from my own experience from this well walked path. The choices you make, are yours to choose.

Natural Mystic, I know they can but I got mine from Mark Steven's and he's a good guy so thought he deserved a plug.

To take hypnosis from McGill's book I practiced on friends to get used to things and how they worked. Then I went to see a hypno show nearby and saw how the theory I had learned was put ointo practice by a pro and then went back and practiced again with my friends.

You could buy...dare I say it...Johnathan Royle has a set of performance DVDs of his shows if you cant get to see a live one.

Hello,
Talking of Mcgill's books, what is difference between "The Encyclopedia Of Stage Hypnotism(Abbott's Magic)" and "The NEW Encyclopedia Of Stage Hypnotism"?
And how are these two books for a beginner?
Thanx much.

Sincerely,
Jay

To the working performer, they're very different. To the beginner, there's probably little noticeable difference; however, I've found most beginners prefer the New Encyclopedia for its glimpses into the shows of other performers.

Dear James,

Thank you very much for your point of view as a working performer.
I appreciate it.

So should a beginner read "The NEW Encyclopedia" first rather than "The Encyclopedia"?
Thanx much.

Sincerely,
Jay

Sure. (However, my personal recommendation is to read "Fun With Hypnosis," under $20 at Amazon.com).

The weird thing about the New Encyclopedia is that Ormond doesn't actually do anything that's in there. His work is something very different. But it's a good read, regardless.

And you can get some free hypnosis articles at http://www.IMBRE.org. George assures me it'll have more open-to-the-public text and audio downloads in the coming weeks.

I personally witnessed Ormond performing a great deal of this material as recently as the summer of 2003. Ormond is such an amazing gift to the world.

Really? Of the dozen or so shows I've seen him do, I've never seen any of it...

Yes. If I didn't mean it, then I would not have stated it. I am completely certain, and I have reviewed the video of this performance recently while working on my hypnosis show.
