Can anyone fill me in a little on the effect "Fire Alarm"? I believe it is a Verne McCarthy trick and have found a place to buy it for about $30.
Does it really work as well as they say it does? Is the lighting and handling smooth and one-handed? What about the claim of swallowing the fire? Will this turn out to be more hassle to cary and use than it's worth? I don't mind paying at all, I just want to know if it's as magical as they say it is... see site [outdated link]

You should probably ask this question in the "Up in smoke!" forum...

If this is the Fire Alarm I bought a bit ago it was disappointing. The 'special fluid' burns fairly low so you can handle it for tens of seconds at a time while the flame above is pretty hot. Problem is the flame goes out pretty easy so you can;t do very fast passes or motions. Forget juggling it. You can 'swallow' the fire ball fairly easily. The video that comes with it is pretty limited in routines. Maybe somebody else can do more with it, but I put it in the 'black hole drawer' and wish I hadn't bought it. For $15 it would be OK. For $35 it's outrageous.

I felt completely ripped off by this effect. it was a complete waste of my time, energy, and money.

Sorry, I guess I'm being a bit stupid here - what is "Howie Diddits"?
Sorry also for the thread revival...

Howie Diddits is a thread in the 'Secret Sessions' forum that offers homemade/cost effective alternatives for some effects..
Sadly, you will not be able to access it until you have made enough 'legitimate' posts..I think it is 50+, but could be wrong. |
