Hey everyone. I was wondering...what are your opinions on me doing a science fair project on Psychokinesis and using magic tricks to pretend I have real powers? It's going to be kind of like Banachek and Project Alpha...what tricks would you recommend? If anybody has the Ultra Bolt and Nut Miracle (without the case), I would like to hear your reviews on it as I plan on buying it next. I have PK Silverware, the PK video from Psi Series, a Boa Coin Bender, and keys to bend keys (lol) and some smaller nails. Any tips or advice is appreciated. Thanks!

YOu don't mean to really introduce this into a science setting and keep pretending it is real? This would be very wrong indeed and nothing like project Alpha as with Project Alpha the scientists claimed to be conducting proper scientific tests.
However, if you do plan on mentioning at the end it is a trick, I would also suggest not revealing the methods either. It is a very fine line you have to walk between education and exposing.

I've almost got everything covered there. It is my last year at the school, so I chose to do it. My science teacher, after hearing about me bending coins for some people last year, said she would like to see. So, I showed her once and then she wanted me to do more. That's when I learned about her interest in 'parapsychology'. The next day she said she researched and found some more tests for me to do. A couple were online...I believe it was at a site like http://www.fourmilab.com. I had never been into the science lab before, but when I had taken a look at what I would be doing, she had a table set up, some nails, keys, silverware, a small glass dome, some wires connected to a bulb, a scale with a strip of metal attached to it possibly for testing how much pressure I applied to metal?, and a couple of other things that I can't remember. Apparently she was very interested in this kind of stuff....but she's not really on the serious side (she's much fun to hang around with and when she's angry you can't really tell). Lucky for me, one of my other teachers wanted to see her. Without thinking about it, she stepped out. I quickly grabbed one of the spoons, put a twist in it, and placed some silverware on top of it to cover. When she came back I said I would do only one experiment because I would miss out on something important for Spanish class (lie!). So, I did the twist and since then she's had the items sitting on the table...it gets something more every now and then. I wanted to see what kind of tests she would conduct, to see if they're practical. Because they've failed scientists before, I would like to pull this off. Revealing the tricks I wouldn't do. Revealing the hoax, should be kind of easy on me. I'm known for my magic and juggling, etc. People know I have odd interests (to them they are anyways). This is just another thing to add to their lists. The truth will come only between me and her. As for the judges at the city fair and beyond (if I make it that far), what do they care? I did hypnosis last year and made it to the city fair, but instead they choose my friend's project called "Sugar Vs. Splenda". All they do is go around, ask you a few questions, and they don't want to hear any more. No demonstrations, no nothing. They will forget after time. They're not the ones who see the experiments done right in their face. I'm not supposed to be fooling them, and fine....they might ask to see a video and if I happen to show them one, what kind of proof is that? They don't have to believe. They might still be skeptical because of no physical displays of these "powers". In brief, I won't have to tell them the truth. I have that all covered. And that's why I say it's almost like you and Project Alpha. I'm fooling my teacher because she can't conduct the proper tests. The wires I've seen laying on that table connected to the lightbulb... Maybe she wants me to light the small bulb? If she does, I just hold a wire on the top of a palmed battery and one at the bottom. I know it may be wrong to fool everyone else and not say anything, but it's my teacher I'm working on. Thanks for the info. though ;-). By the way, I didn't think you were a member at the Café. I wanted to talk to you and James Randi about this but I figured it wouldn't be likely. Nice to have you here Mr. Shaw.

Oh yeah, I looked around your site before and saw the recommended books. I recently purchase Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion. Good book so far. Almost done with The Reciprocity Rule. Thanks

Dude. You are in a position of power if you speak truth.
You have seen the type of tests that will be used so you can prepair for them. You will need a raven or similar, some loops or similar and some skillz. Play the game as much as you can and only disclose your secret to james randi. you may get tv slots and end up like geller. If sm1 wants to test you, see it as a challenge to your skills. If you fool the right person they will do the convincing of other people. Your publicity will be good as other people will be vouching for your powers.

I'll take your advice for sure . Too much for a 13 year-old to handle with television and all. Thanks!
