I work at a McDonald's in the back of a Wal-Mart store in Jasper, Alabama, USA. Anyway, for some reason I had an urge last night to debut some magic for the new girl - she's only been there a few weeks. Things were really slow, and I took my RT lens out of my wallet and did the effect - our store is full of pens so it was easy. And she completely flipped out. It's the first time I've seen the full impact of the trick. I mean, she was literally gaping and saying, "Oh my God!" and such . . . she insisted on taking the pen home with her. She said it was the freakiest thing she'd ever seen in her life and that she might have nightmares about it . . . laughing the whole time as she said it. She topped it off by saying, "When did you learn that lens could do stuff like that? That's like, some David Blaine crap!"
Ah, it was fun. Just thought I would share. It really lifted my magical spirits out of the dumps they have been in for quite some time and made me realize more clearly what P.H. means by the moment of astonishment. |

At that point you should have used NLP to reenforce the feelings she was having. You might have a new girlfriend by now, or at least a fervent admirer who would back up your powers.

Hahahahahahaha
I'm afraid NLP isn't among my skills as a magician. But somehow I've still got all those girls down there fighting over me. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating that one a little . . . Usually whoever I do some really good magic for quits, so they can't tell anyone else! That store has an incredible turnover rate. (And it's not hard to figure out why, once you've worked there a month or so.) I'm trying to find ways to be creative and do magic more often, but "the torn and restored slice of cheese" just doesn't seem strong enough. |

Neuro Linguistic Programming - some form of "subliminally" influencing people's thoughts through carefully chosen words, I think. I tried to read something about it on the 'net one time, but I didn't get far. It put me to sleep. I've heard it mentioned in conjunction with hypnosis a lot though.
