I am intrested in seing a performance of the original sybil by Chris Kenner from his book Totally out of Control.
Could be good knowing it. I am going to buy his book in a few months so I will get it the, but for now, I´d like to see a performance on it. Anyone interested in making one?

Just for your information, the cut named "sybil" in Kenner's book is not at all the cut that looks like Tudor's "what the hell happened to sybil".
The sybil cut is in fact the last part of Tudor's "castro cut" (although Tudor doesn't credit Kenner at all). BUT there is also a cut named "the 5 faces of sybil" in Kenner's book which is the sybil cut we all know. It's in fact the first part of Cap Casino's "5 faces of sybil continuation" (first display) |

I would like to see a video also, primarily because Kenner doesn't go into details about how to close the 5 faces of sybil cut and when I do it it looks pretty messy (due mainly to the packet that is held between the pinky and third finger of the right hand)
Peace out.
Just a magic lovin dude

Hey, in Chris Kenner's book..he also has pictures where you show the 'many' faces of Sybil using your leg even.
Now that's interesting if anyone can achieve that. cheerios

Hey Aaron...I learned a closer (although I may do it different from him) from a magi named Mark Bond. It makes 5 faces completely false and look nice as well. PM if you want some details...peace.

the crazy thing is that I've Tried doing the father figure
and like two minutes into it I looked closely at the picture and noticed the use of the third hand, after that I placed the cards down and moved on to coins. |

I was under the impression that Troy Hooser was the guy who inspired Kenner's Sybil cut with his Illogical cut.

In the book, DesTROYers, a book about Troy Hooser's magic, the author, Joshua Jay writes that "Kalush's Cut" (Magic Manuscript Dec. 1982 - Jan. 1983) was the precursor to all cuts of this type.
I don't have that article, so I'm not sure exactly what he means. He goes on to mention Gianni Mattiolo's "Illogical Shuffle", which is really a cut and was published in the November 1985 issue of Apolcalypse (Jay Sankey learned it when he met him in Italy). Jay Sankey invented his full deck control based on that, which he called "The Illogical Shuffle.” Troy Hooser later developed his “Ultimate Illogical Cut” based on that. Troy Hooser mentioned in a lecture that he had done this for a very long time before it was first published in The Minotaur in December 1990, and later in 2001 in DesTROYers. If I recall correctly (and I might not) he said he had done this at least as far back as 1986. I'm not sure when Chris Kenner's cut was published because I never bought that book. (I'm guessing that is in Totally Out of Control?)
Humans make life so interesting. Do you know that in a universe so full of wonders, they have managed to create boredom. Quite astonishing.

Hey Bill, thanks for the detailed post.
I know of 2 sybils in Chris Kenners book, 5 faces of Sybil, which I now have seen, and some effect in the book ultilizing a sybil cut, which I havent seen. The third cut thing in the book is not a sybil, it is a cut similar to Dan and Dave bucks "Genesis" cut. I believe Chris cut is what inspired Genesis, I may be wrong though.

There are several variations on Showoff with Cards DVD, as well as a few other stupidly impossible flourishes.

I can perform basically all the things on showoff with cards better than "rob stiff" does them himself.

The dvd is alright, but as CC stated the performance isn’t up to par… I wouldn’t have any problems if it were just that, considering you get a lot of material for only $20… But I later discovered that he calls moves the wrong names, and worse yet he teaches a lot of them wrong… I can live with a bad performance… but the bad teaching makes him owe me $20… And then there is the whole issue, that he credited absolutely no one. |
