Best BOOK for a beginner on Rubber Band Magic. (primarily interested in a book, but DVD suggestions also welcome)
Life is a test. It is only a test. If this had been a real life, you would have been given further instructions on where to go, and what to do.

I guess the CMH is the Pioneer of all rubber band tricks, but please don't limit yourself to CMH when there are several other who may be will fit you better.
A good source is from the man who does it all: Ammar, and here's the link (also CMH included): http://www.ammarmagic.com/clasren2inbi.html If you like to build an small act, or you just want to know everything there is to know about Rubber Bands you should hire Mr. Dan Harland....or you could just get the DVD set called: MAGIC WITH RUBBER BANDS 3 DVD SET: http://www.mymagic.com/harlan.htm A great book is Slydini's Linking Rubber Band Mystery Book, not sure where you can still get this though.. Good luck! -e-
...As long as i`m not a world-champion at anything, the great reactions of doin` magic will do just fine.....

Another source is the 2 vol. book set Elastrix, which you can get at the Magic Warehouse, among other places.
http://themagicwarehouse.com/bookscl3.html#bk8036 Slydini's Linking Rubber Band mentioned above can be found at US Toy Magic, I believe. http://www.ustmagic.com Good luck. Brandon |

I havn't seen Ammars stuff, but I know of a really good way to start like mentioned above: Elastrix Vol. 1&2 and for a DVD I really liked Dan Harlans 3DVD set about rubber bands. Those are what I have and I have enough material too keep rings etched into my wrists for a ling time.
Ammar's stuff on rubber bands, I mean.
Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.

Crazy man's handcuffs is a must for band magicians..cos IMO its basics.
not only do you need skill, you also need to learn the timing and misdirection to do the sleight. you can also use many different platters to go with the trick, e.g. jail break, phyics, etc depending on wat you like. so you can learn a couple of stuff for it PS: the sleight is not invisible. needs a simple bit of misdirection, etc cheerios
Think outside the box, cos people are all thinking inside now!! - ClouDsss

Do CMH with the spectator holding the band that gets penetrated. The one YOu are holding goes through theirs. Trust me, this kills people!

Pinnacle with Russ Niedzwiecki (DVD) - The Crown Jewel of Rubber Band Effects:
http://www.penguinmagic.com/product.php?ID=625 No question. This will truly elevate your rubberband act to the elite. Give this the time it deserves, it's a true gem. Unbelievable that Russ would allow this one to be released! I'm glad he did! Doug |

For rubber band magic, we also carry the DVD 'Band Shark' by Dan Harlen which teaches thirteen different effects. There is a detailed description of each effect on the product page HERE.

For "parson smith"--what Lee said. Have them hold the band, one loop around a finger on their left hand, the other loop around a finger on their right hand. Do the CMH exactly the same way you always do it. Works great!

This may be a routine that is on one of the DVD's recommended, I don't know. The book "Totally Out Of Control" by Chris Kenner has a great rubber band routine called Missing Link.
