Is there such an item available commercially?
What I'm envisioning is a very simple, thin, lightweight (and inexpensive) sort of thing that can "clip on" (or otherwise simply be positioned in place, gripping parts perhaps hidden beneath a close-up pad) hanging down over the edge or side of a table (pretty much any table at which one might find oneself seated), in order to provide a small, rigid hidden "shelf" upon which final load items (large balls, fruit, etc.) for a seated cups & balls routine might conveniently and strategically be placed for quick and easy loading (so as to make going to one's pockets unnecessary). It seems like such an obviously useful sort of basic utility item that one might expect something along these lines to be readily available ("off the shelf," so to speak). But is it? Or is this the sort of thing one might have to somehow cobble together for oneself, handyman-style?

Karnak... I have never seen such a thing commercially; I made such a thing by making a closeup surface ( a board with a mouse pad then covered with velvet). I then made a bag with an opening kept opens by sewing in a coat hanger. It was attached to the back of the board with a piece of material as a hinge. I could walk up to the table withe the velvet size showing, bag towards my body. As I would place the closeup surface down the bag would be concealed and fall behind the table... Think tear away dove box from the Mark Wilson EOM book.
Also I have had good luck safety pinning the table cloth to form a pouch at home and in restaurants. In the Ron Wilson Kaufman book there is instructions using a bag attached to your back that drops between your legs as you sit down. Take care, Bruce |

Abbott's made one for switching a deck of cards. I don't know if they still do...

Note that Abbott's also made a combination clip & bag accessory specifically for switching a deck of cards as noted above. (I do not know if it is still available.) There was also a close-up pad that had a servante' ("bag") attached that hung down pretty low (something akin to BCS' creation). I don't know whose that was. Julie |

Abbott's Magic sells one still. I've been using mine since I was 15, I'm 24 now and I'm still using it.
What's nice is if you want to change the color for whatever reason, It's very easy to change out colors. I just noticed above this post is the same recommendation. If you don't want Abbott's version Then I have to recommend RNT2.com Sincerely, Mad Jake Jr. |

I haven't mentioned this for years here, but using a Walker can solve many problems. If you are disabled and need one it is better
There is a tray designed to fit over the handles with a holes for cups and a raised lip. By putting it on backwards and covering with a drape, a suitable performance platform with "well" can be formed that can be moved form table to table. It also creates a "space" as you as you move about and creates a different set of "natural conditions" for performances. I am not suggesting that anyone ever fake a disability for any reason, just that moving around with a walker is a normal event in public places. ... I have also had success with using a large menu held by a couple of spectators as a performance table. It doesn't interfere with objects on the table, and can mask many loads/ditches from your waist or belt. A serving tray can also work.

Here's another, albeit out of stock:
https://www.mkcups.com/product-page/psm-......ante-mat I'd really want one that also has a shelf. Should probably just make it.

I watched a Penguin lecture where Doc Doughtery showed how he uses bulldog clips to attach a shaving kit bag to his table; serving as a servante.
After seeing that I was at a Goodwill and came across a make-up container, about the size of a shoe box, sides were stiff cardboard, covered in plastic. The bottom was plastic only with a diagonal zipper. Unzipped, the whole box folded flat. Zipped, the bottom provided tension to hold the box open. I covered it with black duct tape, and attach it to my suitcase table with bulldog clips. My suitcase still closes, and I have a perfect little servante/shelf area.

This may help. I use an instand table. I have the extra shelf on the back and use it for my loads with my chop cup routine. Cover the table with a table cloth and put a nice close up pad on top and it looks great and functional. Look here: www.instand.com
