My younger son was watching the local news when it reported that a teacher in Huntington Beach had been killed by a teenage drunk driver.
That teacher was Johnny Ace Palmer's wife. I cannot express how deeply saddened I am by this senseless and completely avoidable tragedy. My sincerest and deepest condolences go out to Johnny, and his loved ones. I'm sorry to have to bring such news to the magic community here. |

Thanks for sharing this, Bill. Very, very sad. And a truly senseless death. I don't think the law/judiciary is hard enough on drunk driving.

I don't know of an official place to send condolences, sorry.
Johnny posts on LinkedIn quite a bit, so I sent him a message there, to which he replied. |

We'll never understand why but it always seems to be the innocent and good people that are taken from us. My condolences to Johnny and his family during this difficult time.

My wife and I used to frequent the restaurant where Johnny performed walk-around/tableside magic on Sundays in Santa Monica. He is my all-time favorite close up magician. My heart aches for him. I’ve seen his show countless times at the Castle. He always stated during his show that his wife was “the true magic” in his life.
Rest In Peace. Stay strong for your daughters Johnny. |

This is so sad and such a tragic start to 2020 for the Palmer family. That article you link to incorrectly identifies Johnny as a musician. Several in the comments pointed it out.

I remember that Johnny’s SUV had the license plate “ACE SUS” His wife’s name is Susan. Class act all around. Johnny isn’t just my favorite magician. He’s one of my favorite people!

With everything that has been happening in this year of 2020, I just wanted to follow up and inquire how is Johnny Ace Palmer doing?
