Are there any other magicians/aspiring magicians in BC outside of the lower mainland? While I am in the Cariboo, I often travel (in non COVID years) across the province. I have not had the privilege to see anything in person or meet any magicians since I started my journey (definitely still a beginner).

In addition, do you currently order everything online?

Thanks in advance!

Here in British Columbia, there are IBM Rings in Vancouver, Fraser Valley, and Victoria. There used to be an IBM Ring in Kelowna.
There's also a SAM Assembly in Vancouver.

There's a regional magic convention called the "3 of Clubs" here on the West Coast, that rotates the host cities / clubs (Victoria Magic Circle, Vancouver Magic Circle, Northwest Ring of Fire). https://3ofclubsconvention.com/

There's also PCAM, which is a different convention again. PCAM = Pacific Coast Association of Magicians. https://pcammagic.com/

I know of some magicians in the Kelowna area, in the Nanaimo area, in the Parksville / Qualicum Beach area, etc. (So, not just in the cities I've mentioned, that have clubs).

P.S. Because I specialize in Kids and Family Shows, I might not order from the same magic dealers as you. In the past few years, I've ordered from Vanishing Rabbit Magic (Canada), Axtell Expressions (USA), Tommy James Magic (USA), Smoky Mountain Magic (USA), Practical Magic (UK), etc.

Thank you so much Donald! I really appreciate you taking the time to reply with all of the great information! While I travel across the province, the lower mainland is usually the one place I tend not to go...

I will definitely check out the links you sent me as well as the Canadian magic dealer you mentioned. I have purchased from Penguin Magic because of their free shipping to Canada, but wanted to support Canadian companies if possible. Not to mention, walking into a brick and mortar store if I happen to be in the area would be a new experience for me.

I think that Brent had to shut down his brick and mortar version of The Vanishing Rabbit, but the store still exists online. He's based in Calgary.

Because you mentioned the lower mainland (of BC)...

BTW, Shawn Farquhar is based in Vancouver, and is a good person to know. One of his ventures nowadays is a show called "Hidden Wonders". Because of COVID restrictions here in our province, he can't do live shows just now. But he is doing an online version of his show. Here's a link to the website and the Facebook page.

Shawn also hosts another show called "Cabaret of Wonders". Usually, Shawn and some other performers do this show. From the website: "Currently, the Cabaret happens in the Chilliwack Cultural Centre once a month from January to April." I think they recently did an online version of that show, too. Here's a link to the website, but Shawn's Facebook page might have more info, too.

BTW, last year's IBM International President was Alex Zander, and he's based on the lower mainland of BC. And the IBM International President-Elect is Billy Hsueh (he announced this yesterday on Facebook), and he's based on the lower mainland of BC. And Shawn Farquhar was the IBM International President for 2014-2015.

Many of the members of the Fraser Valley Magic Circle are also active performers and run public events, too. Some more good people to know - Mike Norden, Gord Boyes, Bruce Hunt, Chris Yuill, etc.

This is all fantastic information, thank you so much! I have heard amazing things about Shawn as a person and thoroughly enjoy his performances that I have seen (never in person though). Definitely sounds like the lower mainland is the place to be for magic in BC (no shocker there).

I just checked out the Vanishing Rabbit and Shawn's show links. I will take a look at the rest as well. Thank you again! I really appreciate the time you took to send all of this.

You've all provided great resources, just wanted to add one more to the mix. CAM has a directory of magic clubs across Canada to help us all stay in touch. Here's the link https://www.cammagic.org/canada

FYI if you want to join us every 2nd Wednesday of each month is CAM JAM. A virtual magic jam session that's free and membership is not required.

This month's special guest is Lee Asher. Here are the deets for Feb https://www.cammagic.org/post/feb-cam-jam
