Can you suggest book titles devoted to the discussion of character development?

I'm aware of:

-- Boffo by Chrstopher Thisse

-- Theatrical Magic (a chapter) by John Pyka

If you have either of these books, please do share your thoughts on them.

THE ultimate book on the subject by the master of this subject is Max Howard’s “Creating Theatrical Magic.”

Easy Street by Ann-Elizabeth Shapera. Available on Lulu.com for about $8 e-book (print also available).

Thank you both.

rhettbryson... I've looked for Creating Theatrical Magic but can't find it anywhere.

Can you signpost me to a copy?

I would also recommend A Book by Anton (to be clear, the title of the book is "a book"). Fantastic piece!

Nice to see this conversation is still alive. Although my former character died of Covid, I have recently returned to acting, and still specialize in theatrical magic and wrote a book with an amazing chapter on character development that started as a discussion here on the Café!

Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things...
We'll catch ya on the Back of the Cereal Box!
