I have a fun idea for a trick, but am not sure how to accomplish it. (I may have seen something like this performed before, so if this trick is already available commercially, I'd be happy to buy it!)

Here's the trick.:

The magician chooses a spectator from the audience and he joins the magician on stage. The spectator is positioned so his back is turned and cannot see what happens next.

The magician shows three large white cards (8 X 10 inches), each with a simple expression typed on it - large enough for the audience members to see. They say things like "I love magic," "I'm really enjoying the show," "The magic word is abracadabra."

The cards are shown to the audience one at a time, but they are cautioned NOT to read them aloud. After the magician shows the cards to the audience, he hides the messages and asks the spectator to join him center stage.

The magician quickly hypnotizes the spectator and explains that he has now taken away the spectator's ability to read. The magician shows the three cards, one at a time, to the spectator. The audience can only see the backs of the cards at this point. The magician asks the spectator to read each message aloud. The spectator starts speaking in gibberish as he tries to read each card. At any point, the magician turns a card so the audiences can easily read the simple message, yet when the card is turned back to the spectator, the confused and embarrassed spectator tries but cannot decipher it.

Finally, the magician brings the spectator back from the trance and magically the spectator can read each one.

The spectator is thanked and rejoins the audience.

So, somehow, the cards must be designed so when shown to the audience the messages are easy to read, yet when the cards are shown to the spectator, the simple messages are replaced with unpronounceable sequences of letters. When shown again to the audience, the messages become legible.

How can I accomplish this simply?

Thanks in advance for your help!
