Hello,
I'm looking for a resource on a non-electronic Spirit Bell. Mainly looking for how to make one. Every search I've done comes up with electronic ones. Thanks! |

Would you want a crystal wine goblet on a string hanging from a wooden dowel? That is the best non electric I can think of that is a common everyday item that is very effective. It’s also a type of spirit bell.

Hello Darkness,
Thank you for the response. Yes, what book/manuscript would you recommend for this? I've seen them mentioned but not where to find them. Thank you, Seth |

Hi Seth,
There are others but this one is the best. https://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/view......orum=221 But honestly you can make one yourself. I believe this was originally in a old book, Tarbell? Get a real crystal glass and you can figure out the rest. Regards, Rick

Unrelated to the spirit bell, but Pete McMillan also has a great free PDF about spirit slates on the website linked above.

My book Raising the Dead for Fun & Profit includes a routine titled the Anagram Seance, which is probably the first seance murder mystery ever offered, encouraging participants to solve the murder through clues offered during the seance. It includes the description of an old school spirit counter bell (long before Christopher Taylor released his electronic Death Toll), in which the button on the bell can be seen moving down as if tapped when the bell rings. At the seance's conclusion the bell can be examined.

I think your book, which I hear is excellent, was published in 2011; that was the year AFTER I released Death Toll. Cheers.

Just fyi- the inexpensive hotel style bell being sold by House of Fire is NOT an electronic version. You need to be seated at a table for this. There is at least one other inexpensive electronic version on the market for a similar price.

What about for a non-electronic *Desk* Bell? Does any one have any ideas or sources/books/etc. they could guide me to?
