Johnny passing? I don't know what to say. I just know this wonderful man was a part of my childhood, and a sweet wonderful part at that. I remember dad always watching Johnny every night, and many times if I was lucky, I got to watch too.
Many times from my bed, as I lay there trying to sleep, I could hear Johnny's voice on the TV downstairs, and I could hear the laughter of the audience, and my imagination would fill in the rest! My Grandmother was VERY old fashioned. She didn't believe in TV. Said she would never have one. But in her later years dad convinced her, and she finally got one. But she vowed to never watch Johnny because of his double entendres. She said that wasn't "clean and pure" To make a long story short, (and this tickles me!) in the end Johnny won her over, and my old fashioned straight laced pure as snow Grandma ended up watching Johnny every night! And she would laugh and get such a kick out of him! That was Johnny's power to win people over! May he rest in beautiful peace.

I grew up watching Carson and was sad to see him retire. Bette Midler's appearance on his next to last show was television history.
Johnny Carson was a class act. He will be missed. |

Did anyone see the night they "hanged" Johnny? They had a complete gallows on stage, put the noose around his neck, cover his head with black cloth, and then dropped him through the trap door. come to think of it, they may not have covered his head. Then they went to commercial. When they came back Johnny was at his desk, all smiles and joking. That was a good one for sure. I felt sad at his retirement, but fully expected to see him pop up on TV doing specials or something. He had such a wonderful sense of humor and timing. Nobody will match what he could do to get an audience on his side.
God Bless you Johnny. I can hear St. Peter announcing him now..

Just an FYI....amongst all the famous magicians that had been on his show, Lance Burton (my inspiration) was one of them. Lance Burton said that if Carson hadn't put him on the show (not to mention Carson gave Lance a longer act than the rest), he wouldn't be where he is today.
Johnny Carson, you will be missed!

Thanks Ron! That is quite a comprehensive list! It just shows in a real way how much johnny loved the art of magic, doesn't it?
